Holding Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Oā€™Keefe is the author of Persuasion: Theory and Research (3rd edition) from Sage Publications.

Description:Ā Is leadership innate or learned? Perhaps it is a bit of both. In this course, students will learn tools for influencing, persuading and inspiring their peers. In particular, ā€œthe course will address four broad topics: strategies for influencing peopleā€™s personal attitudes; strategies for affecting social factors influencing behavior; strategies for affecting peopleā€™s perceived ability to undertake the desired behavior; and strategies for inducing people to act on their existing intentions.ā€ Even more, it will focus on how leaders can customize their communication style in various contexts.
