Doctorate Hopefuls: 1 year, 8 months agoWharton Dean Tom Robertson told me that it costs the school $350,000 to train a single PhD candidate. Wharton has 180 PhD students, admitting roughly 35 per year. So it’s a fairly big investment.

Harvard, for example, received 798 applications for its doctoral program in 2009 and admitted just 4% of those who applied–a third of its acceptance rate for full-time MBAs.
