MBA Rankings

Public Group active 1 month ago

There are five regularly-published major rankings of full-time MBA programs: BusinessWeek, Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, Financial Times, and The Economist. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these various surveys? What can they tell you about an individual school’s reputation and quality? This is the place we’ll discuss these questions. John A. Byrne, editor-in-chief of Poets & Quants and the creator of the first MBA rankings at BusinessWeek in 1988, will moderate the forum.

There’s an interesting article on college rankings written by New Yorker superstar Malcolm Gladwell, author of several bestselling books, including Blink. Those he doesn’t particularly address business schools rankings, his observations are easily applied to MBA ratings. Here’s our take on his take: “Malcolm Gladwell Trashes…[Read more]

It will be interesting to see what people think of the new rankings published by Poets&Quants. I actually think it’s a great idea to take a look at all the major rankings out there and blend them in a way that gives greater credibility and authority to a new ranking. It takes out the wild inconsistencies of the rankings that tend to make them…[Read more]

There are now five major rankings: BusinessWeek, Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, The Financial Times, and The Economist. Each uses a different methodology to determine the best business schools and each methodology has its own strengths, weaknesses, and differing…[Read more]
