The Macquarie MBA: What You Need To Know

Located in Sydney, Australia, the Macquarie Business School (MQBS) is on a mission to “provide inspiring and engaging business education and research that is useful to students throughout their careers and for solving society’s biggest problems.” The program is directly designed for those with at least three years of experience looking to reach a higher potential in the business management world.

The main Macquarie campus is in North Ryde, yet Macquarie also has a campus in the heart of Sydney, the financial capital of Australia, which gives students a leg up in building corporate connections in a really unique location.

“The Macquarie MBA is designed to position our students front and center in the course experience, enabling each of our students to reflect on and distil their purpose in order to develop their contribution to business and society,” says Steve Jaynes, Associate Professor.

The MQBS MBA can be completed in 1.5 to 2 years and welcomed a class of 39 students this year. The curriculum is designed to teach key business disciplines both quantitative and qualitative experiences and is regularly updated to address emerging business and industry trends such as data science, digital transformation, ESG, and transferable soft-skill requirements. The program contains ten foundation units and 6 elective units. Macquarie’s MBA doesn’t offer specializations, and internships are optional but not required.

Outside of the required curriculum, MQBS students frequent the Finance Decision Lab as well as the new career development program and a momentum coaching program that was developed and implemented in 2021/2022 to help students land careers. Students also have access to MQBS’s huge network of around 215,000 alumni.
