Three Profs Finalists for Wisconsin Dean by: John A. The three finalists will visit with campus officials, faculty, staff, students, alumni and the broader campus community in the coming weeks. Each finalist will spend two days on campus visiting and meeting with people at UW-Madison as the final part of the search-and-screen process for the job. The visits will include open question-and-answer sessions in Grainger Hall, 975 University Ave. The Q&A schedule for the candidates is: Monday, June 6: Michael Trick, professor of operations research and associate dean for research in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, 10:30 a.m. Trick has consulted for Motorola, the U.S. Postal Service, and Major League Baseball, among others. He’s a two-time winner of the George Leland Bach award for excellence in the classroom. Wednesday, June 8: Anil Makhija, Dean’s Distinguished Professor of Finance in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, 2:30 p.m. He has been on the faculty at Fisher since 1999. In the past, he has chaired the school’s finance department and served as associate dean. Executive MBA classes at Fisher have chosen him for their Outstanding Faculty Award for eight out of the last nine graduating classes. He has also received the Outstanding Teacher Award multiple times from the full-time and evening MBA students. He was awarded the Pace Setter’s Teaching Award, the highest honor for teaching at Fisher, for sustained excellence in teaching. Wednesday, June 15: Francois Ortalo-Magné, Robert E. Wangard Professor of real estate at the Wisconsin School of Business, 10:30 a.m. He has been chairman of the department of real estate and urban land economics asince 2008. He initiated and currently directs a partnership with leading business schools around the world to deliver a new degree, the Global Real Estate Masters and provide real estate education services to each partner: HEC Paris, Hong Kong UST, and INCAE Costa Rica.
