The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler School today (Sept. 25) introduced what it calls “The MBA App,,” a new iPad and iPhone application for prospective MBA students. The school is calling it “the first MBA admissions app designed to assist prospective students in the complex decision-making process of whether to pursue an MBA degree and identify the right program for them. The MBA App provides tools and insights to evaluate the right time to pursue an MBA, calculate its return on investment, and develop a plan to finance it.” Prospective students can use the app to apply to Kenan-Flagler’s MBA program, according to a spokesperson. A click on the “apply” button takes users to a form similar to the one on the school’s website to begin the application process and create an account. There also are videos and stories about students. Key “pain points” surround the decision to pursue an MBA, said Sherry Wallace, MBA admissions director at UNC Kenan-Flagler, in a statement. “Our admissions team listened to the issues that prospective students pondered, and then developed useful information that helps them address those questions and provides valuable information about the process.” “The MBA App offers tremendous utility to anyone considering an MBA, not just those considering our program,” added Michael Schinelli, chief marketing officer at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “The best thing is that it offers prospective students the unique insights and expertise of a seasoned admissions team at a leading global business school.” Kenan-Flagler said the MBA App is part of a broader strategy to develop a powerful mobile presence which engages different groups across the UNC Kenan-Flagler community, such as the digital alumni magazine, UNC Business. The school also plans to release an Android version of The MBA App. A free download of The MBA App is available in the Apple App Store.
