The space reinforces both the notion of transparency and collaboration. Flat Flexible Classrooms Kellogg’s Global Hub features seven 50-seat flat classrooms and two 70-seat flat classrooms as well as six tiered classrooms, each able to accommodate 70 students sitting in four levels. The emphasis was on designing larger classrooms without columns so that the spaces could be modified later for a combination of large and small classrooms. Student Lounges In The Wings One of several student study lounges with lake views and modern gas fireplaces. These spaces are as quiet as a library — reflective, serene places that serve as a counterpoint to the design brief call for an “excessively public” building. Instead, says KPMG Architects’ founding partner Bruce Kuwabara, the lounges are “excessively contemplative” spaces for MBA students. Study By A Fire It’s no secret that winters in Evanston, Ill., can be brutally cold, with gusty winds coming off Lake Michigan. One of the cozy attributes of each student lounge is a modern gas fireplace that creates additional warmth. The Marketplace An expansive student dining room features a modern fireplace and lake views, along with a wide variety of food choices. Today’s “Comfort Cuisine” options included a vegetarian entree, General Tso’s tofu with bell peppers, water chestnuts and onions, and a Pesto Flank Steak with sugar snap peas and cauliflower mashed potatoes. The Market Grill special was a Philly Cheese Steak Wrap, while the Bistro Deli selections included a Turkey Bacon Ciabatta, a Buffalo Chicken Baguette, and a Mediterranean Veggie Lavash. Personal Pizzas Made To Order If you love pizza, you’re going to love the new Marketplace options. The meat toppings alone include chorizo, ham, chicken, ground beef, bacon, and of course, pepperoni and sausage. And for the veggie crowd? There are 14 toppings you can pile on that pie, including four peppers (green, red, jalapeno and banana), three onions (red, yello and carmelized), sun-dried tomato, spinach, zucchini and pico de gallo (on a pizza?). The Fitness Center At the lowest level of the Global Hub, Kellogg MBA students now have a fully outfitted fitness center.
