B-School Deans On The Value Of An MBA

Gather a group of business school deans from some of the world’s leading schools provides a quick glimpse of the state of business education today. At the CentreCourt MBA Festival in San Francisco on June 24th, the deans from UC-Berkeley’s Haas School, Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business, Cornell University’s College of Business, the University of Michigan’s Ross School, and UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School were not shy in pressing their views on the value of the MBA and the future direction of the degree.

Haas Dean Rich Lyons spoke about the guiding principles that define the school’s culture. Kenna-Flagler Dean Doug Shackelford described his his school is using virtual reality learnings in MBA classrooms. Tuck Dean Matt Slaughter discussed his concept for how the school’s Hanover, N.H., campus is a base camp from which students travel all over the world for experiences. Cornell’s Rohit Verman addressed the forthcoming opening of the university’s campus in New York City. And Ross Dean Scott DeRue explained the next big step in experiential learning.
