“There is a tremendous amount of opportunity to go to a great business school, but at each school the culture is different,” says Kurt Ahlm, associate dean of admissions at Chicago’s Booth School of Business. “Values are different, and the experiences are different. When we look at the application process, we are always trying to see how people understand those differences when it applies to Booth. We are a place that actively tries to give students the right tools to make sense of the unfamiliar. So we are always looking at the analytical, intellectual mindset. In the application, people should take the time to think about what is ‘fit’ and how to connect the different pieces of an application so that every piece of that real estate matters.”
