Wharton’s MBA Admissions Chief Out

Wharton MBA Admissions Director Frank DeVecchis

Frank, we hardly knew ya.

Frank DeVecchis, director of MBA admissions at the Wharton School for the past three years, has flown the coop. He left his position on May 25th for a corporate job with pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. where he now is director of university relations, diversity & inclusion.

Wharton’s Blair Godfrey Mannix

Blair Godfrey Mannix, who for the past three and one-half years has worked in Wharton admissions as the director of operations and evaluations, has been named interim director of MBA admissions.

Mannix is effecitvely the fourth person to hold the chief admissions title at Wharton in the past eight years. Ankur Kumar, a 2007 MBA alum of Wharton,  was in this role from 2011 to 2013. J.J. Cutler, a 1997 MBA graduate of Wharton,  served in the position in 2009 and 2010, before gaining a promotion as Wharton’s deputy vice dean. He is now an executive headunter with Heidrick & Struggles in Philadelphia in the firm’s education, nonprofit and social enterprise practice.

An English major from St. Joseph’s University in Philly, DeVecchis had been director of alumni relations at his alma mater for nearly two and one-half years when he joined the Wharton School in late 2009 as associate director of the Wharton Fund. Two years later, he moved to director of global immersion programs at Wharton and then, in mid-2013, he took on the job as director of MBA academic operations. He became director of MBA admissions in March of 2015.
