Handicapping Your MBA Odds: New Reality For Female MBA Applicants

The New Reality For Female MBA Applicants…

We Spill The Beans and Good News

By the time she applies to business school, this young female professional will have four solid years of working in the global markets section of a prominent Boston bank with experience in making data useful. She has a 3.5 grade point average in anthropology and resource economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship for all four of her undergraduate years. She also scored 640 on the GMAT (though she plans to take the GRE shortly to see if she can do better).

Her goal: To leverage her data analytics experience and an MBA degree to land a job in marketing at either a consumer packaged goods company or a tech firm. Her target business schools include the University of Texas at Austin, Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, Boston College and Boston University. But she also intends to toss a pass at a reach school, MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

What are her chances? In this Friday’s With Sandy episode, HBSGuru Sandy Kreisberg assesses her chances. P&Q Founder reveals some good news that will help the candidate, despite having a GMAT score below the averages for her target schools.
