Military-Banker-Harvard Business School?

After spending a decade of his young life preparing to serve in the U.S. military, Connor found his lifetime goal of being a member of the Army Rangers flipped on its head. While training in Army Ranger leadership school, he fell off a cliff with a 60-pound pack, shattering a leg and ankle. The injury would force him into a medical retirement and a very different future.

He had graduated from West Point in the top 20% of his class were he led more than 200 cadets, and he would rack up two years as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer, but he lost his chance to deploy. Connor, however, quickly rebounded, networking himself into a role as a financial analyst with Wells Fargo.

With a 3.4 GPA from West Point where he majored in Russian and a 740 GMAT, he hopes to get into a highly selective business school and earn his MBA degree. His target schools: Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, Dartmouth Tuck, Yale School of Management, and Cornell Johnson.

In this Friday with Sandy episode, HBSGuru.com founder Sandy Kreisberg handicaps his odds of success and suggests the best way to position himself to admissions.
