IE Business School Adopts Blended Teaching Model For Fall

IE University is touting what it calls “a unique liquid learning model” in moving to a blended learning approach when it opens all five of its schools, including IE Business School, in September.

Most business schools, from Wharton and Columbia in the U.S. to INSEAD in Europe, have already announced that they will open their campuses in the fall with a mix of in-person and online classes. What IE is promising is that its virtual classes will “equal” the “immersive experience and academic excellence” of its physical courses.

“Starting next September, we will resume face-to-face classes and activate our new liquid learning model. Students will move on a physical and digital stage that reflects the world in which we now live, while personalizing their education and developing critical thinking and e-skills,” said IE University President Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño. “At IE University, we are prepared to reactivate the classroom with all measures of health protection and physical distancing and will promote this unique training model as a response to the challenges facing the education sector.”

SPAIN WILL OPEN BORDERS ON JULY 1

“The Spanish government has confirmed the opening of Spain’s borders to international tourism as of July 1^st. In the coming weeks, we will gradually recover mobility and renew our efforts to attract talent and position Spain as a world-class educational destination,” concludes Iñiguez de Onzoño.

According to the school, “all IE University programs will have a hybrid format and be simultaneously attended by students in the classroom and online.  The format will provide flexibility for students and reinforce active and personalized learning that focuses on solving real-world problems. To accomplish this, IE University has adapted all courses to include new methodologies, content, and academic materials. Facilities and classrooms have likewise been redesigned and equipped with technological solutions that enhance interaction.”

The approach will be available on both its campuses in Madrid and Segovia. “Students will attend class, participate in workshops, conferences, and seminars, develop their professional networks, and also enjoy the culture of the two cities,” according to IE. “Students who choose to connect to their chosen program online will benefit from the same academic and networking opportunities as their face-to-face peers while participating in collaborative and personalized learning through synchronous and asynchronous classes as well as individual sessions monitored by IE University faculty.”
