Samples Of Harvard Business School Post-Interview Reflections

Dear [INTERVIEWER],

First, thank you so much for considering my application! I’m so grateful for the time for self-reflection and the opportunity to meet the extraordinary faculty and students of HBS.

I had a wonderful experience interviewing with [NAMES OF TWO INTERVIEWERS], and I was able to share my greatest passion with them: the arts. We spent most of our meeting talking about some of my favorite topics – productions close to my heart including The Nutcracker, new revenue sources that interest me, and industry challenges I’d like to tackle. The time flew by!

If I had more time, I would have loved to explain why HBS is my top choice. My dream is to run a national arts organization, and HBS would be an amazing place to grow into a nonprofit leader. This is evidenced by the renowned alums in the arts like Max Hodges (Executive Director of Boston Ballet) and Kara Barnett (Executive Director of American Ballet Theatre). Here are a few reasons why I’d like to attend HBS:

• I’m excited about HBS’s arts and social sector curriculum. As an EC, my electives would include “Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship” and “Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation.” These courses would push me to develop creative solutions for challenges in the arts space, like increasing accessibility to millennials while retaining support from older generations.
• I’d be thrilled to be part of a community that is as invested in the arts as I am. Harvard has shown commitment to the arts through efforts like the Task Force on the Arts, which launched in 2008 and ensures that art plays a key role in the institution. My MBA experience at HBS would include taking dance courses at the Office for the Arts at Harvard, participating in the Arts First Festival, and managing dance performances for the HBS community.
• I was blown away by my conversations with fellow HBS candidates. All of the candidates had diverse backgrounds, work experiences, and ways of thinking. I’d be excited to share a classroom with these individuals and observe their different ways of solving problems.

These past few months have been an incredible experience – I loved touring the campus, meeting the HBS community, and sharing my love of the arts with you. Thank you so much, [INTERVIEWER], for your consideration.

Best wishes to you and your family for the holidays!
Cheers,
