2) Community: “The strength of the community is what drew me to Tuck. I really value the opportunity to build meaningful connections with others and Tuck’s small community is the perfect conduit to do that. Through formal events like Tuck Talks, River of Life, and informal Zoom hangouts, my classmates and I have gotten to know each other well very quickly. Tuck students have rich and diverse personal and professional experiences, and I’ve already learned so much about the world from them. I’m looking forward to even more perspective and experience sharing, which will allow me to become a more empathetic and aware leader.”

My classmates are the most supportive people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. From grocery and supply shopping for students under their post-move in quarantine to holding review sessions for classes they tested out of, every Tuck student I’ve met has done something to support a fellow Tuckie. That’s what makes our Tuck community what it is – that drive to be there for each other.”
Kahsa Teum (’22)

“Tuck develops wise, decisive leaders” is the opening of our school’s mission statement. As an expression of culture and values, Tuck’s mission and the ready emphasis on leadership provides a powerful undertone for what drives the school. This is a community dedicated to creating servant leaders and that is awesome.”

3) Hands-On Learning: “I was looking for a program that would help me develop a more holistic view of how a company operates, and Tuck has the curriculum and professors to help me achieve that goal. The courses and programs Tuck offers will allow me to close the gaps that I have. Tuck’s First Year Project (FYP) and Global Insight Expeditions (GIXs) programs will provide experience with real-life business problems. Courses such as Ramon Lecuona’s Strategy in Emerging Markets, David Sally’s Negotiation, and Scott Neslin’s Customer Analytics, will help me acquire the tools to successfully design and implement business strategies and transition from an intuition-based decision-making approach to a data-driven one.”
Elias Castro Orrego (‘22)

4) Career Center: “It would be a fully-engaged career center. When I visited Tuck in October the economy was doing well, but at a panel an alumnus made an off-the-cuff comment about her experience graduating in 2009/2010 and how the career center set up a war room to ensure every single student had a placement. That resonated with me; it showed that Tuck will step up when times are tough. Now a year later with a completely different job market, I feel confident in the support of the administration and career center to ensure the best possible outcomes for us.”
Jonathon Chin (’22)

5) Upper Valley: “Tuck’s symbiotic relationship with the Upper Valley was very attractive to me. In particular, the school’s community consulting projects and non-profit board fellows programs highlight the way Tuck students get involved and give back to small businesses, startups, and non-profits in the region. It’s important to me because the Upper Valley is such a big part of my reason for choosing Tuck, and it is special to be able to participate in the community with meaningful contributions of time, energy, and expertise.”

6) Academic Rigor: “I chose Tuck because I value quality over quantity. I was attracted to the smaller, tight-knit class structure. Additionally, as someone interested in addressing issues of financial inequality and access to opportunity, Tuck’s experiential learning programs in entrepreneurship, impact investing, and venture capital were especially enticing to me.”
Muhammad Hassan (’22)

7) GIX: “When I was looking at different MBA programs, I was focused on the community, network, and opportunity to travel internationally within my program. At Tuck, we have something called the Global Insights Expedition (GIX), where you spend 10 days with your classmates abroad. Through GIX, I was able to travel to Vietnam with 35 other Tuckies and 2 professors to learn about the global economy and understand the culture. We met with representatives of companies and government in both former North Vietnam and former South Vietnam to get their perspective of the “American War” as they call it, as well as the culture and the business opportunities that have arisen since the war. It was such a unique experience that I knew I chose the right business program.”
Elizabeth Davis (’20)

8) Tuck Talks: “One of my favorite traditions at Tuck is Tuck Talks. Tuck Talks is a storytelling night that occurs every term where 6-8 students, TPs, faculty, and staff share the experiences, relationships, and/or passions that have shaped their perspective and given them purpose. Tuck Talks is an intimate event that allows students to get to know the people that work and study alongside them on a deeper, personal level. Tuck Talks is an important part of Tuck because it amplifies the voices and stories of students who wish to share a lesser-known part of themselves as a way to foster stronger Tuck fabric.”
Sonovia Wint (’20)

And here’s a crucial piece of advice from 2020 grad Kevin Yuan for anyone looking to apply for a seat in the Class of 2023…

“With only 280 people in each class, everyone matters, and everyone needs to contribute to the Tuck Fabric. The sooner you discover your reason and your contribution to the fabric, the better!”
