A product manager for a market leading company in the video security software field, Fabliha has set her sights on an accelerated one-year MBA program. This 28-year-old professional is applying to Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Cornell Tech, and New York University’s Tech MBA programs. And she plans on something of a ‘Hail Mary’ pass at Harvard Business School.
A thought leader in cloud-based software and the youngest person to be promoted to product marketing manager in the company’s history, she is also recruiting ‘Women in Tech’ for her 1,000–plus employee private firm in Montreal. Fabliha has an undergraduate degree in marketing from Concordia University in Canada. She brings a GRE score with even splits of 161 on the verbal and the quant, along with a 3.7 GPA to her applications.
Her immediate post-MBA goal: To transition to the United States and become a product manager for a B2B cloud-based software company. Longer term, Fabliha would like to become a Vice President of product, leading with empathy and providing a different perspective to the tech-bro culture. “I want to be the mentor who simply did not exist when I was growing up,” she says.
In this episode of Friday’s With Sandy, HBSGuru.com founder Sandy Kreisberg assesses her odds of success at gaining admits to her target schools and counsels her on how to put her best foot forward to push the odds in her favor.
