Broadening My Horizons With My Major by: Brett Diehl, Kelley Direct student on August 08, 2022 | 115 Views August 8, 2022 Copy Link Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Email Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Share on Reddit Hey guys! So, this month I was going to talk a little bit about choosing a major at Kelley. I put quite a bit of thought into which concentration I wanted. I think the “go-to” concentration for most Army officers would be something dealing with strategy. Whether most of us are actually well-versed in it is a different story, but it would probably feel the most comfortable focusing on that as a concentration. I figured I could learn more about strategy and how it related to business, or I could branch out and focus on something I wasn’t too familiar with. Broaden my horizons a bit. I decided on the latter and chose Digital Technology Management. I figured technology is playing a bigger and bigger part in everything we do. And every business. It’s also something I haven’t really dealt with too much. So, learning more about how technology supports business and how to better manage technology systems and experts would be beneficial to me. So far, it has certainly broadened my horizons. ERP systems, SQL, ERDs… all things I hadn’t even heard of before. It has also been a challenge learning so many unfamiliar things with everything else I’ve had going on. Good news though: we finally finished all our last-minute projects and our house is listed! Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. Then we just have to move back to STL!
