P&Q’s Must Reads: Poets&Quants’ MBA Program Of The Year

https://youtu.be/Uz3hVOFtbhA

Hello everyone  –- Welcome back to Poets&Quants’ Must Reads, a quick, digestible recap of the top business school news, sponsored by CentreCourt, P&Q’s virtual admission events.

I’m your host, Kristy Bleizeffer, and I’ll be highlighting the most important P&Q stories you might have missed. So, let’s get to it.

No. 1: Poets&Quants’ MBA Program Of The Year

The MBA program of the future will be highly flexible and innovative. You’ll be able to start it with a single course at a time, or a sequence of courses that stack into a certificate. It’s online so you don’t have to leave your job. You can pay for it as you go through.

That MBA of the future is already here, and it is Poets&Quants‘ MBA Program of the Year. The iMBA from the University of Illinois’ Gies College of Business has launched yet another on-ramp to the degree: a pair of fully online, credit-bearing graduate certificates, with up to six more options coming within the year.

No. 2: P&Q’s Dean of the Year

Traveling west from Gies, we take you next to Stanford Graduate School of Business to reveal our dean of the year.

As an economist, Jon Levin may have very well been on his way to the Nobel Prize, but he set aside his scholarly pursuits to take on the top administrative job at one of the world’s best business schools.

For bringing stability to a school wracked by scandal, for putting Stanford in the lead of all business schools on diversity and inclusion, and for expertly leading Stanford into the modern age, Levin has been named Poets&Quants Dean of the Year for 2022. The 50-year-old economist is the 12th leader of a business school to earn this honor, joining a stellar cast of academic talent over the years.

No. 3: 2022 Business School Rankings: The Complete Collection

It’s a bit of an understatement to say MBA rankings took a bit of a beating this year.

The Economist, tired of being lampooned for its puzzling practices and rollercoaster results, tapped out of the rankings game. At the same time, Forbes pushed back its ranking another year. And let’s just say experts are growing suspicious when they can’t replicate Bloomberg Businessweek’s results. On a larger scale, data scandals involving Temple University and Columbia University have made prospective students increasingly skeptical of their accuracy. In the law school space, top schools are increasingly opting out of rankings entirely, often citing U.S. News for penalizing public service in its methodology.

Still rankings still remain one of the most sought after tools for prospective MBAs looking for a fitting program.

This collection includes all of the major rankings and analysis we’ve published this year, including our own ranking of the best business schools of the year. Find it in our rankings tab.
