Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of Stanford GSB’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? Stanford GSB’s focus on authentic leadership and entrepreneurship in all its forms was the main driver for me to choose this school. It was important to me because I wanted to learn from a very broad and diverse range of classmates who are crafting new paths in their own ways.

What has been the most surprising thing that you’ve learned about Stanford GSB so far? There are more resources for you to achieve what you want than you have time here. Think strategically about when to experiment, and when to execute.

What quality best describes your MBA classmates you’ve met so far? Give an example why this is true. Everyone is genuinely curious and engaged to learn about your values, what you want to accomplish, and how they can help. I gave my TALK, a GSB tradition where you present your life story in 30 minutes to all of your classmates. While I have an unusual story, many of my classmates reached out to tell me how much they connected and shared their own life story.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: I moved back to the African continent 4 years ago without a job with the goal to help grow the African tech ecosystem, I led $15m worth of deals in seed and Series A African companies since then.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? I won one of the 3 Executive Challenge cases in competition with all my classmates. The Executive Challenge is a day-long intra-MBA 1 competition where you present/negotiate a case with GSB alumni as the judges.

What has been the biggest epiphany you’ve gained about yourself or the world since you started your MBA program? Gaining access to the network and knowledge is a difficult first step. Figuring out what you want to do with it while living out your values is harder. Executing on this consistently over many years is the hardest part.

What advice would you give to a prospective applicant looking to join the Stanford GSB Class of 2024? Being authentic and vulnerable is the most important part. For example, the best advice I received while writing my essays was that I should write it in such a way that I would be terrified if I left it on the printer at work. I would encourage you to try your hardest to bring your full self in your application and interviews.
