The MBA program is renowned for its “Team Fuqua” culture, which is predicated on six paired principles: Authentic Engagement, Supportive Ambition, Collective Diversity, Impactful Stewardship, Loyal Community, and Uncompromising Integrity. Which of these resonates most with you – and what does that principle demand of you as a Fuqua MBA? I strongly resonate with the principles of “Impactful Stewardship” and “Loyal Community.” Choosing “Impactful Stewardship” reflects my commitment to making a real difference and approaching problem-solving with purpose and curiosity, aiming to create meaningful impacts.

Embracing the principle of “Loyal Community” is essential to me as I prioritize people and teamwork, recognizing the value of collaboration and putting others first. This fosters an environment where solutions are enriched by diverse perspectives, and everyone works together toward shared goals.

As a Fuqua MBA, I believe embodying these principles means thinking in terms of community, valuing different perspectives, and considering the well-being of everyone while seeking solutions. This approach is crucial for achieving real and lasting impact. My commitment to these principles will undoubtedly contribute to creating incredible solutions and inspiring positive change in the world.

Aside from your classmates and school culture, what was the key part of Duke Fuqua’s MBA curriculum programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I chose Fuqua primarily because of the incredible “Team Fuqua” culture, where leadership permeates every activity, person, and student in the university, setting it apart from others. The combination of the “Team Fuqua” culture and the strategy concentration align perfectly with my personal and professional objectives. I believe this program will not only provide me with the skills and knowledge to become a successful CEO of a large company but also prepare me to contribute to the empowerment of women in leadership positions. Fuqua’s emphasis on leadership and its unique approach to problem-solving truly resonate with my aspirations and values.

What has been your first impression of the Fuqua MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far. Tell us your best Fuqua story so far. From the moment I started this journey, my encounters with Fuqua MBA students and alumni have left me completely captivated. The warmth and genuine care they’ve shown have been nothing short of extraordinary. Each person I’ve met has been incredibly supportive, offering help, sharing invaluable advice, and making us feel like we belong to a close-knit family. It’s difficult to put into words the overwhelming sense of belonging and camaraderie I experienced. Admittedly, I don’t have a specific story to share. However, it is beyond words the profound impact of being embraced by this incredible community—one that I met in the Business, Communications and Culture course and my condominium, within just two weeks of moving to a new country with my husband (also an incoming Fuqua MBA candidate) and two young children. This feeling of unity and support epitomizes the true spirit of Team Fuqua, and I am truly grateful to be a part of it.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Duke Fuqua? I find myself incredibly excited about everything at Duke Fuqua. I have a strong desire to make a meaningful impact and make the most of these two years. Among the various options, the concept of “learn by doing” in programs like Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum or Fuqua on Board truly captivates me. When it comes to clubs, the Women’s Leadership Club holds a special place in my heart as I am passionate about bridging the gender gap and empowering women to become future leaders. Additionally, I have a keen interest in wine and extreme sports, so I’m eager to explore opportunities with Building Outdoor Leaders at Duke (BOLD) and the Wine Club. The possibilities at Fuqua are endless, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in these experiences and contribute to a thriving and diverse community.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: While being part of the transition towards intelligent and data-driven marketing is a notable accomplishment in my career, my greatest pride lies in effectively balancing the role of a mother with my professional aspirations. I have been successfully managing the responsibilities of mothering two children, including my youngest, Franco, at just two months old. All the while, I have been studying with him in a baby carrier while applying to Fuqua and having a challenging job, which has been an immensely rewarding and demanding journey. Mastering these three realms of my life and now embarking on my Fuqua experience—crafting the next chapter of journey—fills me with immense pride and unwavering commitment to continued growth as both a professional and a mother.

Looking ahead two years, what would make your MBA experience successful? A successful MBA experience for me would involve forming genuine friendships, cherishing family moments, actively engaging with Fuqua’s community, empowering other women in pursuing an MBA, and acquiring skills for career growth. Balancing personal and academic pursuits, I aim to thrive socially and academically while making a positive impact on others. Contributing to Fuqua’s vibrant environment and leaving a meaningful mark is crucial

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Duke Fuqua’s MBA program? Embrace being yourself and enjoy the journey. Attending various Fuqua events is a wise choice to familiarize yourself with the school, its program, and the vibrant community. Fuqua seeks exceptional individuals with strong leadership qualities, but what matters most is finding a genuine match in both directions.
