What has been your favorite part of Nashville so far? Why? The music and food!  Everyone associates Nashville with music but until you live here you don’t realize how amazing it is being part of a community with music and art totally engrained in the culture of the city.  New restaurants open every day, and the food is amazing!

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Vanderbilt Owen’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I was stationed at Fort Campbell during my Army career which is  roughly 1 hour north of Nashville.  I bought my first home in Nashville and always considered it to be home.  When I was leaving the military, I wanted to stay in Nashville.  When I visited campus for the first time, I felt the tight knit community that Owen had and the opportunities I’d have by attending school here.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Vanderbilt Owen? I’ve enjoyed my time within the Owen Strategy and Consulting Club the most.  The members of the Consulting Club are extremely intelligent, personable, and approach problems in such a distinct and collaborative way.  I now serve as a 1st Year Board Member within the Strategy & Consulting Club.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Leading young men and women within the 101st Airborne Division as part of the greatest fighting force in the world, the United States Army.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? My greatest accomplishment thus far is my team’s performance at the Deloitte Case Competition, which we came in 2nd for the school, losing only to the Vanderbilt team who placed 4th in the country at the national case competition.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? My best memory has been orientation and meeting all the people that I consider to be close friends today.  Colleagues and I were excited and nervous about what was to come but we’d all find our way and I’ve made incredible bonds already throughout my time at Owen.
