Devon Sanford’s path to securing admissions at all eight top business schools she applied to, with nearly a million dollars in scholarships, is a testament to resilience and strategic storytelling. With a Bachelor’s in English from Boston College and a career rooted in non-profit startups and social-impact investing, Devon’s unconventional background initially posed a challenge. Many top-rated admissions consultants dismissed her as a non-viable candidate, citing her lack of traditional business experience as a hurdle that could weaken her applications.

Undeterred, Devon found a partner in Admissions Gateway and consultant Rajdeep Chimni, whose optimism and candid approach stood out. Rajdeep’s creative yet structured guidance helped Devon craft compelling, school-specific narratives that highlighted her diverse experiences—ranging from her leadership as an Orientation Leader at Boston College to her impactful work at GoodCompany Ventures and the Global Good Fund, where she raised $1.8M and supported over 60 entrepreneurs. When Devon leaned toward a broad corporate social responsibility narrative for her essays, Rajdeep steered her toward impact investing, aligning her career goals with her expertise. This strategic pivot not only strengthened her applications but also clarified her post-MBA aspirations.

The results were extraordinary. Devon secured admits from Yale, Berkeley, Kellogg, Ross, Duke, and Georgetown in Round 1, followed by Wharton and Harvard in Round 2. Harvard not only offered her a full scholarship but also named her a Goldsmith Fellow, recognizing her social-sector contributions. From being underestimated to achieving unparalleled success, Devon’s journey underscores how Admissions Gateway transformed her unique background into a powerful asset, proving that with the right guidance, any challenge can become a stepping stone to success.
