What has been your favorite part of Toronto so far?

My favorite part of Toronto is the diversity and vibrancy of the city. I love having the opportunity to indulge in authentic dishes from around the world. I have explored Brazilian and italian restaurants and discovered cozy Asian spots. I have enjoyed their flavorful dishes and lively atmosphere.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Toronto Rotman’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you?

The development labs (Self Development Lab and Leadership Development Lab) were a unique selling point for me. I appreciate that the labs focus on building leadership and people skills through personalized coaching, feedback, and experiential exercises, making Rotman the perfect fit for my professional aspirations. This was important to me because my career goals go beyond strong analytical and technical skills but also the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders.

So far, I have received personalized feedback on how to refine my communication and executive presence through role-playing exercises for difficult conversations, and simulations that evaluate decision-making under pressure.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Toronto Rotman?

The Rotman Asset Management Club has been my favorite activity so far. As part of the newsletter team covering the North American Equities Market, I have gained firsthand exposure to market trends and analysis that will be relevant beyond my MBA. This experience aligns perfectly with my interest and allows me to apply classroom concepts in a practical setting. Additionally, I have enjoyed the Finance course because it deepened my understanding of investment strategies particularly in the North American market, which I find exciting.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far:

One of my most impactful achievements was spearheading the development of an automated membership application portal for Nigeria’s first financial market infrastructure company, while simultaneously managing three distinct roles. This initiative transformed the onboarding process, resulting in a streamlined platform now utilized by over 200 members, significantly enhancing efficiency and user experience.

The project required cross functional collaboration and effective stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. As a testament to its impact and several other initiatives I led, I was recognized as the Best Analyst of the Financial Year.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far:

My most significant MBA achievement has been earning the prestigious Heather L. Main Scholarship and securing an automatic internship in capital markets, all while successfully balancing the rigorous demands of the program with parenting responsibilities. The Heather L Main Scholarship is a highly competitive program for women MBA candidates across five leading Canadian business schools. It offers a $25K financial award, a guaranteed capital markets summer internship, bespoke leadership coaching, and Versafi membership.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far?

My best MBA memory so far has been attending the orientation camp at Camp New Moon in Baysville. It was an incredible opportunity to bond with classmates in a relaxed environment while trying new activities for the first time such as skating, dodgeball, pickleball, and even swimming in an icy river! Beyond the fun, the experience taught me the value of stepping outside my comfort zone and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Personal and professional development is one of the cornerstones of the Rotman MBA experience. What have you learned about yourself so far and what do you hope to achieve?

I have learned that my voice is unique and deserves to be heard. What I have to contribute matters. I have also realized that the limits I once believed I had were self-imposed; I can stretch far beyond them. Most importantly, true growth happens outside my comfort zone, and so I keep embracing challenges as opportunities to evolve.

Looking ahead, I hope to become a well-rounded professional that combines technical expertise with strong leadership and people skills. My focus is on self-development, leadership growth, and building a powerful network that positions me as an all-round business executive capable of creating impact across industries.
