The PGP has nurtured some of the brightest young minds in India for more than 40 years; the first batch entered the program in 1974. Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) is a master’s level program, leading to the grant of an MBA.

“The PGP strives to attract the brightest students and provide them with a stimulating and challenging learning environment. While the academic program is rigorous, built on a strong theoretical foundation and backed by real-world examples and application, we would also like to emphasize the importance of value-based education. We want our students to explore their potential as leaders and entrepreneurs and make significant contributions to society in the process,” says Professor R Srinivasan, Chairperson of the PGP.

The two-year program welcomed 483 new students this year. The course content is inspired by management practice backed by a strong fundamental framework oriented towards emerging management issues.

At the core of IIMB is its faculty, a 140-plus group of highly qualified researchers, academicians and practitioners from universities and industries worldwide. The first-year students are exposed to basic concepts in the areas of Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Organization Design, Human Resources Management, Quantitative Methods, and Operations Management through the core courses. These lay the foundation for all the functional areas of management that help develop problem-solving skills. During their first year, students are required to take on 16 core courses and two electives.

Students undergo a summer internship program between the end of first year and beginning of their second year. The internship is optional for students with at least 34 months of work experience prior to joining the institute.

Multinational corporations have recognized IIMB as a source of talent for their global operations, with top recruiters for summer placements including Amazon, Accenture Strategy, Bain & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey & Company.

Elective courses cover a wide array of topics such as Social Entrepreneurship; Infrastructure Development, PPPs and Regulation; Green Business Management, Business Analytics and Intelligence.

In a new collaboration, the program now offers the ‘Developing Technology Partnerships between Firms in India and Israel’ course, that’s been jointly conceptualized and offered by faculty of IIMB and Tel Aviv University, Israel. In this course, students travel to Israel as part of the unique international immersion week.

Various clubs, social projects, action-oriented courses, contemporary studies and student self-governance initiatives help develop critical thinking and leadership skills outside of the structured curriculum.

“IIM Bangalore is a transformative place. You could be from any walk of life, from any background or geography, the two-year journey will be, hands down, one of the defining moments in your life. Here, you are who you want to be. The sheer number of opportunities, academic or otherwise, gives you a breadth of choice to build your dream career. And, the greatest treasure of all would be the people you meet here,” says Chandrasekar T, PGP 2021.
