Sandy Warns Exxon Star With A 750 GMAT About Possible HBS Interview Gaffes

On his very first try on the GMAT, Mridhul scored an impressive 750. That’s 20 points above the median at Harvard Business School, one of his target business schools for an MBA. The soon-to-be 25-year-old professional, who is a strategy and planning advisor at Exxon-Mobil, is also applying to Stanford, Wharton, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

He brings a lot to the game, including a 3.8 GPA in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin, graduating magna cum laude with high honors. Right after picking up his diploma, he went straight into a business analyst job at Exxon-Mobil. Within two years, Mridhul was placed on the company’s executive track and identified as having executive-level potential.

In this Friday’s With Sandy episode, HBSGuru.com founder Sandy Kreisberg puts the candidate through the paces of a mock interview. Not surprisingly, Sandy is tough, delivering important insights along the way. And Mridhul stands the test.

If you’ve been invited to interview at HBS or any other top business school, this is must viewing.
