Credentials: Dr. Bilimoria chairs the organizational behavior department at Case Western Reserveā€™s Weatherhead School of Management. A prolific author and researcher who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, such as Weatherheadā€™s Teaching Excellence Award in 2014 and the Best Professor in Organizational Behavior from the World Education Congress in 2o12. Her research focuses on gender diversity in leadership and organizational transformation.

Description: Women experience the work world very differently than men. They mustĀ  face different expectations in terms of their roles, temperament and ambitions. Theyā€™re saddled with stereotypes that are difficult to overcome. From work-life balance to the glass ceiling, they butt up against barriers, that require heart-wrenching (and sometimes career stilting) choices.

During this course, learners will better understand the business dynamics, pressures, and assumptions relating to women that are slowly changing. Most notably, the course will explore these questions:

  • What are the valued attributes and behaviors of women in the workplace?
  • How does the gendered nature of organizations impact women?
  • What derails our career advancement and what propels us upward?
  • What are your leadership goals and aspirations?
  • How can you best integrate your multiple family and work life commitments?
  • How do you define career success?
  • What can organizations do to provide women with opportunities to excel?
  • What opportunities could our global economy harness by advancing women to leadership?
  • How can the full talents of the workforce be tapped into and developed?

In addition, the course will cover the unique leadership styles of women, confidence-building strategies, and effective negotiation techniques.
