Description: ā€œIf you donā€™t know where youā€™re going, youā€™ll end up somewhere else.ā€ Credit Yogi Berra for that bit of wisdom on strategy. Without a strategy, youā€™re bound to miss opportunities, squander your resources, and ultimately fail your stakeholders. In this course, students will apply strategy to the nonprofit sector, using examples from homelessness and childhood obesity. In particular they ā€œwill learn how to undertake the basic elements of strategy: define the problem, identify stakeholders, design a theory of change and logic model, and establish assessment criteriaā€ to boost their nonprofitā€™s impact. The course will be taught through articles and videos, with students completing individual or team assignments that apply strategy to a social issue or organization of their choice.
