Top 10 MBA Programs With Highest Acceptance Rates

MBA admissions is competitive. Nobody denies that. Yet, for those stressed about whether or not they will be accepted to an MBA program, there is good news.

US News recently released a list of 10 MBA programs that accept over 75% of their applicants.

Acceptance rates at these MBA programs were more than 30% higher compared to the 45.7% average acceptance rates among all ranked MBA programs.

The Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University held the highest acceptance rate at 94.5% for the fall 2016 entering class. Compare that to the most selective MBA program, Stanford University, with an acceptance rate of 6%.

US News labeled nine of the 10 MBA programs with the highest acceptance rates as “Rank Not Published” because they placed in the bottom quarter of the ranking category.

While these 10 schools fare highly in acceptance rates, applicants should also consider the employment statistics of graduates from these MBA programs. Only 42.6% of graduates from The Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University were employed at graduation. In contrast, 62.8% of graduates from The Graduate School of Business at Stanford University were employed at graduation (and 82.4% within three months of graduation).

MBA programs with higher acceptance rates also have lower thresholds for GPA and GMAT scores. At Willamette University’s Atkinson Graduate School of Management, the average GPA for acceptance is 3.3 with an average GMAT score of 561. Compare that, again, to Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where the average GPA is 3.73 and an average GMAT score of 737.

This doesn’t necessarily correlate to one MBA program being better than the other, but prospective applicants should consider important points, such as acceptance thresholds and post grad employment rates, when looking into the right MBA program.
