The New Faculty Faces At The Top Business Schools

MIT Sloan hired six new faculty members with 26 combined years of experience. The big hire was Erin Kelly, who after graduating with a PhD from Princeton in 2000 had spent 15 years in the University of Minnesota’s sociology department. She also taught at the graduate level for Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Her major research and work is in discriminatory policies in U.S. workplaces. Sloan was also able to hire Hazhir Rahmandad who spent nearly a decade as an industrial engineering professor at Virginia Tech.

As noted in the story, Tuck hired Laurens Debo after a year visiting from Chicago Booth. In addition to his PhD, Debo has two masters degrees in operations management and one in electrical engineering. Before Chicago Booth, he spent five years at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School.

Duke’s Fuqua hired two new faculty members with a combined nine years of experience. Anna Cieslak, a native of Poland was hired after four years at Northwestern’s Kellogg. Victor Bennett was hired after one year of visiting Fuqua and five years of being on faculty at USC Marshall School of Business. Before teaching, Bennett was a technical specialist at Google.
