Stats – male, reapplicant, career pivot. My favorite thing about Julie-Anne is her no-nonsense approach and her willingness to help with all aspects of an application. After speaking with her during a free consultation, I knew she’d be extremely valuable during the application process. She doesn’t sugar coat, and her honesty was very important as I honed my application. With her guidance and expertise, she was able to help me turn an application that was getting me nowhere into several acceptances at top programs. There cannot be enough said about the power of another set of eyes, especially ones as sharp as Julie-Anne’s. She can be as detail-oriented or high-level as you need her to be, and she truly cares about the success of those she helps. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.
I attended a mbaMission webinar about Harvard Business School’s 2+2 program. It was a fairly small group (less than 10 people) and it was at 9 PM but Jessica Shklar was able to keep the presentation engaging and relevant. She provided specific examples to show the differences between a strong and weak essay. She was extremely attentive to the specific group’s needs by answering all of our questions. I felt like she was able to provide immense help to my application despite the fact that I had done an extreme amount of research on the MBA admissions process at Harvard Business School, especially the 2+2 program. I decided to follow up with a 30-minute consultation with Jessica to discuss my profile. Within that half hour, she was able to help me craft a narrative for my holistic application and even provided me with structural tips on my essay – without even reading my essay. She wasn’t afraid to point out the weakness of my application, which I’m glad she did because I have heard of some admissions consultants who do their best to only make their clients happy. I wanted someone who was honest and catered to my profile, which she was able to do!
Over the past two weeks, I’ve just finished my MBA interviews with HBS, Wharton, and Oxford. As most of you know, each of these interviews are very different in approach and I finished each feeling very confident and also incredibly thankful that Katy had helped me prepare for each of them. Katy went above and beyond to prepare for each mock interview with me with specific questions tailored to me and based on the tendencies of my interviewer – I can point to specific questions in each of my actual interviews where I am really glad that I not only got to rehearse my answers with Katy but also brainstormed with her to refine them.
Taking a step back, this is the second year in a row that I’ve worked with Katy. She has become a friend to me personally and a mentor to me beyond this business school application process. Beyond the tactical of my essays and how to work with my recommenders (which Katy has done an unbelievably great job), Katy helped nudge me toward my most transformative career decision (and self-discovery) between last year’s application cycle and this year’s. I am very proud of the person I’ve developed into because of Katy’s help. Most importantly, I personally feel how much Katy genuinely cares about me and my success as a friend, from the way we chat and from how often I feel my warm appreciation of “you didn’t have to do all this for me but you did!”
I will sum this up by saying – three years ago when I reached out to Katy, I was privately cynical about MBA consultants in general, but I knew an MBA is so important to me that I couldn’t take the risk. BEST DECISION EVER THAT I DIDN’T EVEN FULLY KNOW THEN. Whew!
My advice – I still don’t know about MBA consultants in general, BUT DO NOT MISS OUT ON KATY! SHE IS THE BEST!
I’m one of those people who like to do a lot of research before committing to a company/service/etc. I spoke to quite a few consulting companies and I’m so glad I was able to find Jessica and MBA mission in the end. As an “older” applicant, the other companies that I spoke to seemed to be using this “fear-based” model to sell their services – making me feel terrible about my odds and my candidacy at the top schools first, then offering their services to help me out. I didn’t realize that’s what they were doing until I had my first phone call with Jessica, who was so enthusiastic, encouraging, and genuine about her thoughts on my candidacy. I knew right away that I’d want to work with her. She didn’t have any spots available for R1 so I signed up to work with her on R2 on two of my dream schools, which was the best decision I made during this application process.
From day 1 of working together, I could just tell that Jessica is an absolute genius. For several months I had been trying to come up with a thread for my essay, but I just couldn’t figure out how to connect the dots and I felt lost. But Jessica was able to do that in ONE DAY – I sent in my brainstorming document and the very next day during our phone call she was able to come up with a genius thread that connects all the dots and showcases my strengths in a very compelling way. She goes so deep during the brainstorming part and asks the right questions to uncover all the aspects, then on the spot she could come up with a theme for the essay. I was blown away by how good she was. I remember getting off that phone call feeling super excited about writing the essay (which is very rare because I always hated writing) and I had to call my best friend to share how thrilled I was to have found Jessica and how great her ideas for my essay were.
I always thought I had to write 8-10 drafts of essays before I could get it to a “top school quality”, but I was wrong on that because Jessica is so good at helping me frame up the essay (paragraph by paragraph) that I got to a final version quality within only 3 drafts. She’s just that good!
Jessica is very professional and caring. She always turns around things and answers questions very quickly. When you are working with her, you can just feel that she’s not just another consultant for you, but she’s truly on this journey with you – she cheers you on during the tough and stressful times, goes above and beyond to make your application shine, she was like this awesome big sister that I never had and I’ve never even met her! Just a few days before the applications deadline, I had a family emergency, everything was like my worst nightmare. Jessica was an angel and helped me out so much during those days. Her comforting words really helped me grieve during the most stressful time. She turned around my items just a couple hours after I sent them to her to allow me to focus on my family and grieving. I was in such terrible shape and I honestly don’t think I would’ve gotten my applications through without her help.
Perhaps the best part of working with Jessica was that I have learned so much about myself throughout this process. She really helped me see myself from a new perspective and get more clarity on who I am and what I want to do with life and not just with an MBA. In the end, I realized crafting the essays, the stories, the post-MBA goals wasn’t just about getting into the dream schools anymore, it was more about asking the deep, tough questions to myself and figuring out who I truly want to be. And I’m forever grateful for Jessica for that. I got an interview invite to my dream school and now working on the interview prep.
Jessica is all around top-notch. I still can’t believe how lucky I am to have worked with her.
Words cannot express how amazing Jessica was during my business school process! I had applied the year earlier to schools and did not get into a program that I wanted to attend. Having worked with a consultant in the past I was extremely skeptical of what mbaMission could bring to the table. Jessica was introduced by a friend who was ecstatic about getting into Booth when he originally had been targeting schools in the 10-20 ranking range.
The 30 minutes complimentary phone call was a game changer. Jessica was on point, had a clear strategy, and it was immediately apparent that this was going to be a different experience. I wish I had known her one year earlier. I quickly recognized that if I wanted to get into a business program it would only be with Jessica’s help improving my mediocre application. I had a solid 10 years of work experience but a low GPA and a low GMAT! Jessica was amazing during the brainstorming and essay writing sessions that identified a clear message and story we wanted to share. Jessica was extremely responsive, thoughtful, and supportive as we tracked multiple applications. She pushed me and held me accountable throughout the entire process.
In the end, it was Jessica’s recommendation to add another program to the list that landed me at the Stanford GSB. I would not be at the GSB if it had not been for Jessica’s help and guidance, for which I am forever grateful.
My daughter recommended Jessica to me. At first, I thought that I did not need consulting service because I had more than 20 years business leadership experience in top global IT companies in SAP, Oracle, Dell, Fujitsu, Compaq, and DEC. After the first 30 minute call with her, Jessica changed my opinion completely. She reviewed my profile with very much deeper insights. She supported me to know more about who I am, what I want and how I should do for my goal. And she recommended several programs fitted to me shortly after our talk. I am very impressive in her rich experience and expertise in admission consulting and her quick and strategic thinking and professional consulting methodology. Then I purchased Jessica’s hourly services and experienced more about Jessica’s great value to my application and career development. I believe I could not have gotten the offer from London Business School “Sloan Master in Leadership and Strategy” without Jessica’s strong and prompt supports. After I joined the Sloan program, I found that more than 60% of our classmates are master holders and there are several Ph.D. holders. Most of my classmates have more than 20 years of management experience. Jessica supported me to analyze my strength and weakness, how to present myself, how to write good essays in a short time. My recommendation to other EMBA, Sloan program and executive program applicants is that Jessica’s excellent consulting service is valuable to your time and money although you are senior and experienced in business management.
Jessica has been a great admission consultant. I have worked with Jessica for more than a year for my MBA application and re-application. She is very interested in learning about my stories and provides valuable insights on how my stories can fit into essays. Also, with extensive experience in admission consulting, she shares specific knowledge about the business programs I’m interested in and gives specific suggestions about the schools. I appreciate her help, and recommend her without any hesitation!
I feel very fortunate to have worked with Jessica Shklar from MBA Mission this year. She was kind, direct and helpful from the start and I don’t think I would have survived the grueling admissions process without her. Beginning with our 30-minute consultation, she helped me to understand what made me unique and how to bring my previous experiences together into a cohesive and powerful story. She helped me substantially with the essays and short answers and helped me feel confident with the package I put together. She was also prompt in answering any question I had, no matter how small. I would not hesitate to work with Jessica again and have already recommended her to close friends who are considering applying to MBA programs.
Before Jessica, I was like a lost duck. I had no idea what I should be doing to prepare my application for business school and I had no idea how to navigate the entire process. Luckily, I contacted her far enough in advance so that we could discuss a plan. After our initial discussion I was definitely overwhelmed by how much I needed to do but at the same time, Jessica made it all seem much more manageable and took much of the stress out of the process. I came in with a low GPA so I really didn’t have that high of expectations. Jessica helped me to formulate my story in a way that brought out the best aspects of myself that I hadn’t even considered. Yes, she was fantastic at helping me bring out my voice in my essays and preparing me for my interviews but it was the discussions with her about my life experiences that really stood out to me. She forced me to be introspective in a way that I had never been and helped me to take a hard look at my life and relate my past experiences to what I wanted to do moving forward. Without her, I would have never even known where to start. People say “you don’t know what you don’t know” and with the application process, this was very true for me. I went from having low expectations of getting a scholarship to a top 5 school. Jessica, THANK YOU!
Jessica was critical in my admission to HBS—I truly feel I couldn’t have done it without her. I first spoke to Jessica during a 30-minute free consultation (I did these with all of the major companies). Right off the bat I felt Jessica truly believed in me, was my main cheerleader, and was invested in making me successful.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience working with Jessica. I was very daunted by the business school application process and how to tell my story (I had a series of jobs that seemed unrelated on paper and wasn’t sure about my career goals). I was blown away by our first brainstorming session—Jessica has the unique ability to ask the right questions and is a gifted storyteller–I left our first brainstorming session with a clear story and direction for my HBS essay (none of which I had planned to write about!)
Jessica reviewed every word on my application including my resume, essays, and short answer with incredible detail and care. Her promptness and thoughtfulness while editing were simply incredible—she pushed me to think, clarify my goals, and suggested major improvements, all while preserving my voice. She kept me on track and stopped me from second guessing myself, all while making sure I was truly proud of and happy with every single thing I turned into the schools.
Once the applications were all submitted and I heard back regarding interviews, Jessica was critical in helping me prep for those as well. I give Jessica my highest possible recommendation—she’s sincere, cares about her clients, and extremely good at what she does.
Thank you so much, Jessica! I really appreciate it!
I have used Jeremy’s services myself and have recommended him to my GMAT students.
Jeremy used his experience and insight to help me craft my story (not create an inauthentic story) that would best resonate with my target school. He asks relevant and helpful questions that assisted me in the creation of my application. He has seemingly unlimited interest and enthusiasm about his work, which is helping you tell your message to get into school.
The students that I have referred to Jeremy only have positive things to say about him.
It’s at the very least worth a free consultation with him!
Coming off a zero admit season I was desperately seeking good advice and counsel for my reapplication season. As part of my search, I reviewed the list of consultants on the mbaMission website and decided to set up a 30 min complimentary call with Melissa. I was intrigued by her experience leading the admissions committee at an actual business school and wanted to get her thoughts on my candidacy and approach. While I decided to go with an Indian consultant for a school package due to budgetary constraints, I didn’t want to miss out on Melissa’s expertise and decided to go for hourly services with her.
I loved Melissa’s direct but positive & encouraging approach to my questions, and while initially, I was apprehensive about how the whole “hourly” service will work, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of value I was able to derive from it. I used Melissa’s expertise in fine-tuning my resume, reviewing essays for a couple of schools, getting answers to miscellaneous questions, and I finished it with a mock interview. For those who may be apprehensive about spending 4-5K to get such expert advice as a full package, I’d say the “hourly service” is a great way to not miss out on some very valuable support and guidance.
Melissa’s feedback on essays and story structure was crucial (especially for Fuqua’s 25 things) and she also suggested some super edits to resume bullets which were minor changes but greatly increased the impact of the bullets. The mock interview was also very helpful as we focused on pace and tone apart from the stories. I also sought her advice on things like interviewing with alum vs on campus and it was reassuring to make those decisions knowing that I was not doing it alone.
I had final offers from Chicago Booth, Kellogg & Duke Fuqua and I have no qualms in admitting that Melissa had a material effect in ensuring these great results.
Prepping for the GMAT and GRE (I took both) was an exhausting process. I’ve always been a solid student (GPA 3.8), but I kept missing the mark on these standardized tests. I wasn’t very happy with my scores and was thinking of applying round 3, to start school in fall 2018. Melissa was instrumental in my decision to wait, get the best scores I possibly could, not rush the essays, and apply round 1, in order to start school in fall 2019. I followed her advice and will be starting school in about 6 months at USC Marshall. Her honest assessment of my candidacy was so appreciated. I’m very glad I waited to apply and took her advice.
When it came to essays, I didn’t know where to begin. I was so drained from the studying process. Melissa really helped me hone my focus, and again, her honesty was greatly appreciated. One of my essays was so far away from where it needed to be that Melissa declined to give notes on it, and instead suggested that I start over with a different approach (she specified the approach). I was paying hourly, so I’m very grateful that she didn’t waste time correcting an essay that was so poor to begin with.
Melissa is awesome in terms of communication, time management, and giving helpful, honest feedback. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend.
Even if her rate was twice as much, I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her again.
Aside from being incredibly motivating and brilliant, Jessica truly cares about her clients’ success. Like most, I was hesitant about using a consultant but once we had our phone consultation, I knew she would be invaluable! Speaking to Jessica for that 30 minutes changed my outlook on the MBA application process and I immediately signed up for a 5 hour package. Right form the start, she encouraged me to capitalize on my non-traditional background, pushing me (in a good way) to market myself as an asset to better schools than what I had initially come to her with. Thanks to her, my resume was so well refined that I received a GMAT waiver from a top school; considering my strictly arts background, this was a miracle. She helped me focus my creative mind to write more factual and direct essays, while still allowing room for personality in my writing. Her mock interview literally had me sweating bullets but was so effective that the real ones felt like a breeze. Through it all, she responded quickly, honestly, and intelligently.
I can’t recommend her highly enough!
Melissa is a thoughtful, caring, and diligent consultant who will put you in the best position possible to get accepted to your dream MBA program. Melissa was able to extract insights about me and my story throughout the process that I would never have been able to surface on my own. She is an extremely talented essay editor and knows what admissions committees are looking for when they read your personal statements. Without her, my essays would have been much weaker, and I’m not sure I would have gotten the results I did.
More importantly, Melissa provides deeply caring and personalized mentorship. She was always extremely accessible and knew my story inside and out, despite working with many other clients at the same time. She is a straight-shooter and gives actionable feedback, which also means that when she tells you how awesome something is, she means it! She is very honest and pushes her clients in all the right ways. I can’t say enough good things about Melissa.
These guys helped me with my application to grad school at Columbia. It was a roll-up-your-sleeves, get in the weeds kind of approach and was truly impactful in my ability to complete the assignments and get accepted. Rather than doing the work for me, they enabled me to think deeply about my journey, and bring my best self to the writing, editing and submission process. Their coaching was really invaluable and I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.
I applied to MBA programs in 2008, without the assistance of Jeremy and mbaMission, and did not even get interviews at any of my target schools. I applied again in 2009, and what a world of difference! I was admitted to two of the three schools to which I applied. Jeremy and mbaMission are clearly the experts in MBA admissions consulting, and they were invaluable at every stage of the process. He and mbaMission are like having an expert caddie with you on the golf course. They know the admissions landscape, all the school processes, the tricks and nuances and how to make sure an applicant presents him or herself as well as possible in applications and interviews. Additionally, Jeremy was always very responsive and very honest. His counsel and guidance were invaluable. Plus, he is an incredibly nice person, and someone to whom I would strongly encourage anyone thinking about applying to a top MBA program talk!
Katharine was critical in my preparation for business school applications! Her schedule fills up, so I locked her in as a consultant in January of 2016, when applications were not submitted until September of 2016.
In my case, Katharine’s most influential interactions happened early in the process. She was the perfect river guide in self-reflection and discovery. Who am I? What people, events, and decisions have made me this way? What drives me? What do I want? I think I wrote up about 30+ pages of personal history before our first full working session. She knew more about me than most people ever do.
Because of her influence I felt like I was able to tap into my most authentic self and write genuine, compelling essays. This led to admission to Stanford, Wharton, and Kellogg. Harvard declined to interview. I matriculated at the GSB and will graduate this year!
Give Katharine a call and see if she’s a fit for you! I’m soooo glad I did.
I come from a non-traditional background and wanted to add a consultant to help tailor my profile. I shopped around and after a few consultations, it was abundantly clear that Nisha not only was incredibly competent but also very reasonable, understanding and supportive. She was always incredibly quick to respond to email and regularly turned around redline requests quicker than the advertised 48 hour window. Her ability to highlight strong aspects of an essay and guide me to expand on stronger points is second to none. I think my favorite aspect of working with Nisha is how quickly I came to trust her opinion on any application related matter. I applied to 4 schools and was accepted to all 4 and was even awarded a scholarship at one of my reaches- where I will be attending. I am confident that this would never have happened without Nisha’s help. She’s also got an incredible wealth of knowledge on MBA programs. Lastly, she’s a friendly person who I enjoyed talking to. All in all an incredible experience. Hire her ASAP!
A few years ago, I chose another consultant over mbaMission and didn’t get anywhere. Last year, by overwhelming recommendation, I decided to work with Jeremy on my EMBA application. At the time, I had my doubts because being a business owner myself, I wasn’t sure if two Type A personality working together was a good idea. Those doubts quickly faded away when the work started. J always scheduled calls with me that accommodated my ever changing time zone and during each call, he not only listened but also extracted the essence of my stories which helped the application writing process tremendously. I’m full of stories but I am possibly the worst person alive at telling my own stories. After countless calls and email exchanges, J helped me craft a number of compelling applications that resulted in multiple acceptance from M7 school. One of which even called me personally before decision deadline to deliver the congratulatory news and shared with me how much she enjoyed reading my application and my stories. Now I have to write on my own again without first an edit by J, it feels weird.
Jeremy is truly world class and without doubt a game changer in the world of MBA admissions consulting. He helped me think through my early brainstorms for my application to Stanford GSB, the only school I applied to, and I give him tremendous credit for helping me gain admission by telling my story the most authentic way possible. I would strongly advise you work with Jeremy.
I was referred to Katy by a friend who had worked with her and had a very successful outcome. From our first call, I could tell Katy was someone I wanted on my team. In that first call she gave me confidence that I could stand out as an applicant, something I didn’t think likely given my overrepresented IB / PE background.
Among a host of other benefits of working with Katy, two stand out: (1) Katy helped me identify common themes in my life and helped me articulate a life mission of sorts, and (2) she was a skilled guide who helped me navigate the daunting MBA admissions process.
During our “brainstorming” call, I was shocked that she could understand me and my life experiences, motivations, and aspirations on a deep level, and then help me articulate those ideas in my essays while maintaining my own voice. All along the way, Katy was a trusted mentor, but she also gave me the frank criticism that was tough to hear.
I ended up applying to several top business schools in the US in round 1, and I was ultimately accepted to four. I think Katy’s clients find that she does everything she can to help them achieve their goals. She did that for me, and I would highly recommend her!
I give my highest possible recommendation to Jeremy Shinewald of mbaMission. Jeremy has deep, well-researched insights on every business school I had expressed interest in exploring. His institutional knowledge of every program served as an invaluable sounding-board as I honed my list of schools that I applied to.
Jeremy is also undoubtedly a genius marketer. After performing his procedural forensic of my work and personal experiences, he helped identify my meaningful experiences that were particularly important to highlight in my applications. He not only enabled me to craft my personal story in well-thought-out manner, but he also helped me create a more profound and intellectually stimulating essay. His experience as a senior speech writer for politicians was also a tremendous benefit, as he helped me shape my essays with greater clarity (and word limit precision).
I am not one who compliments easily but Jeremy’s efforts and teamwork made all the difference. I did not score particularly well on my GMAT and knew from the outset that my essays and applications would make the difference. I ultimately received offers to attend several of the top 10 MBA programs and certainly feel my success was in large part due to Jeremy’s guidance and unrelenting commitment. He is also a pleasure to work with and now consider him a close friend.
So appreciative of Jeremy for helping me get into my dream school, Harvard. His experience and passion for admissions were truly unique, and he provided a personalized and tailored approach. I am so grateful to Jeremy and the entire mbaMission team.
When facing the B-School application process I knew the cost of a consultant was significant, but if I went through the process alone and didn’t get the outcome I was looking for, I would have kicked myself for not utilizing the resource. I talked with 3 potential consultants before making a decision and during our initial 30 minute consultation Melissa understood my story the best and was very upfront about strengths and potential challenges for my candidacy without instilling fear about going through the process. She became a partner and a guide through this process.
I worked with Melissa on a 5-school package beginning in May for Round 1 helping with school selection, brainstorming, essay edits, interview prep and interactions with admissions post acceptance. Melissa took the time to get to know me, making her suggestions more meaningful and her constructive feedback easy to accept during the brainstorming/editing phase. During school selection she asked probing questions to help me come to conclusions and even put me in contact with a former client who attended one of my target schools. I was shocked at how helpful the interview prep was, since it is tailored to each school I felt very confident going into different situations.
Scheduling calls was easy and it felt like catching up with an old friend, who happened to be supporting me through this sometimes grueling process. MBA mission has a 48 hour response period, but I often heard back much faster. The best part about working with her, was knowing someone had my back during all steps of the application process. I can’t imagine going through this process or getting the results I did without Melissa’s help and support, I cannot recommend her enough.
Julie-Anne is simply incredible. She was an invaluable resource throughout the entire process. I was accepted to my dream school, which was quite a stretch given my unique background. It would not have been possible without Julie-Anne’s sage advice and assistance. She is truly extraordinary!
To summarize simply, Katy is amazing. You won’t find anyone more supportive, kind, and knowledgeable. She is truly invested in your future and success from beginning to end. I was a Round 1 applicant and I, like many applicants, had lofty goals of attending some of the top schools but with the fear that I wasn’t good enough: typical finance, strategy experience, below average scores and non-pedigree state school for my undergrad.
When I filled out my “brainstorming” document, I wondered how unique I could possibly be. However, during our conversation, as she asked in-depth “Why?” questions, she got to the core reasons of why I made the decisions I had made. Katy was instantly able to pinpoint unique themes in my story – something I would have never been able to do on my own. By the end of that call, I knew that Katy was truly my friend, ally, and part-therapist.
In all, the application process is no-joke. I went through many ups-and-downs wondering if I would even get an interview at these schools, but Katy was there for it all. It’s a long process but she breaks down the marathon into clear deliverables over the course of a couple of months. Katy knows what these schools are looking for, how to position your story the right way, and what to do to prepare. She’s always on call to answer any question you may have.
In the end, I was accepted to Harvard (my first choice) and two other top 5 programs. I truly am thankful for all of her help and cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone who’s looking for not only a consultant but a cheerleader and friend throughout the process.
I came to Susan while in the midst of studying for the GMAT, exploring MBA programs, and uncovering my post-MBA goals (all within a very short deadline for round 1). Susan structured the overwhelming process, ensuring I was set up for success.
She contributed a few key insights that helped my application become significantly more competitive. She provided a deep understanding of what admissions was hoping to uncover within the essay prompts, and helped me to generate ideas to demonstrate my aptitude/qualifications and my passion.
With her help, I was admitted to a top 5 MBA program.
Jeremy Shinewald is an absolute game changer for anyone aspiring to get an MBA from a top school. Jeremy’s time is split between his many clients and running (in my opinion) the best admissions consultation company out there. But if no one had told me that, I would have thought I was his only responsibility.
His attention to detail is unlike anything I’ve seen, and he will cut to the core of what makes you an interesting person and a strong candidate. He will help you sort through your experiences, and will not only help you identify the key points that will make you stand out to the admissions committee, he will help you create an application that does them justice. Beyond that, he will make sure your writing is clear, concise and precise. Jeremy wants you to create an application that means something to you, and by the end of your time with Jeremy, you will have made a friend that you will likely remain in touch with even after you’ve been admitted.
His expertise is right for any situation you’re facing, whether you think you’re a strong candidate but want to maximize your chances of creating a strong application, or you’re in a panic and you have a few weeks to put something together.
He charges a premium on his services, and if you’re reading this review it is likely because you’re asking yourself whether or not Jeremy is truly worth the extra money. Let me put it this way: If I had gotten rejected from all of the schools I applied to, I would pay the same amount and try again with Jeremy next year. (I actually ended up getting into my top choice – HBS). It truly does not get better than Jeremy, he is worth more than what he charges.
I first approached Katy through a free 30 minute consultation and immediately knew I needed her support and experience throughout the application process. Katy was the one consultant who truly boosted my confidence that I could meet my target programs despite self-reservations around my GRE score and relatively young age. I chose to purchase the 5 hour package. I knew which schools I wanted to apply to and wanted some guidance around essays, resumes, and mock interviews. One of most important, yet sometimes overlooked document is the resume. I was struggling immensely to fit all my experience in one page. Katy provided timely and efficient feedback, and provided insider guidance into what schools look for in a resume. She helped me fit what I wanted in one page. Then came the essays! I first started with a robust brainstorming document and gave my first drafts to Katy. What Katy truly excels at is allowing you to retain your own words and template, but optimizing it in a way that resonates with schools. Every essay I wrote, I retained 100% my thoughts and beliefs and Katy helped me articulate that in an efficient manner. Lastly I conducted a mock interview with Katy. She came prepared with school specific interview questions and gave me tangible feedback to improve upon after the mock interview. Katy has a knack for capturing real-time guidance and providing you that document to serve as a guidance moving forward. All in all, working with Katy was the best investment I made. I knew from the first free consultation that Katy would not only be my consultant, but a genuine mentor looking to help me achieve my dreams. I was able to get admittance and several interviews in the top 20. Without Katy’s guidance, this entire process would have been exponentially more stressful. Choose Katy, you won’t be disappointed.
I applied to 4 MBA programs in the first round in the fall of 2018 and I had a super busy work schedule, so I needed a consultant to provide guidance and coaching on very specific areas of my application, rather than trying to re-work aspects that I was already happy with. Nisha understood this right from the beginning. We focused on re-working my resume, which I hadn’t touched in 5 years. She was extremely thorough with the resume and would provide high-level initial feedback to get me on the right track. I found that she was particularly strong at helping me see my accomplishments and skills through the eyes of an admissions officer, so that I could find the best way to position everything.
She also helped with the essays in a few different ways. Before I’d even looked at the application essays, she helped me think through the main topics and themes that would be worth calling out in my essays. I was quite confident in my writing, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of her time focusing on the content, but then she’d help with the final review.
Ultimately, I was really struck by how well she was able to focus on the areas that I knew I needed help with. Rather than running a standardized process, she tailored all of the time to me and exactly what I wanted help with at each point in the process. I honestly felt like all of the time was so well-spent…. and now I have 2 acceptances that I’m really excited about :).
I would highly recommend working with Nisha! She’s very thorough, thoughtful, and enthusiastic. She wasn’t afraid to give critical feedback, but ultimately, she made me feel really confident in my applications. She took a lot of stress and questioning out of the whole process!
In April, I signed up for a 3-School Round 1 package with Melissa. Melissa was amazing throughout the whole process. She wasted no time getting all the information she could from me and assigning me homework in order to get for us to get the best essay stories possible. It is worth noting that I was also studying for the GMAT while working on my essays with Melissa, and she was very conscious and respectful of my study time. She often helped push me to study more and do better by providing words of encouragement. After I took the GMAT, she was one of the first people to reach out asking how the test went, but never applied too much pressure to make me feel as though if I didn’t do well on the test that we were in trouble. Melissa and I worked on 3 schools together, but I applied to 6 programs in total. Melissa was a huge help when deciding which programs to apply to, whether she was going to help me with that school or not. We immediately got to work writing for my target schools, which actually was pretty fun compared to typical essay writing. Melissa always responded with in depth comments, and structural notes that really helped my essays paint a clearer picture. Communicating with Melissa is seamless. Our phone calls always felt very relaxed and natural while being extremely informative. I believe MBAMission has a 48 hour turnaround period for all materials, but Melissa usually responded to all my requests with a day, sometimes in just a few hours for random questions and asks. After receiving my interview requests, Melissa and I would spend an hour on the phone a couple days before each meeting. I was always very nervous about these interviews, but Melissa really helped calm these fears, while also helping me prepare. I think this was a huge reason I ended up getting admitted to my programs. Melissa is definitely worth the investment. I believe my time with her made me a better writer, and a stronger candidate. I believe she was a huge reason I ended up getting a scholarship from my school of choice, and admitted into multiple programs. Melissa really helped calm my nerves during this extremely anxious process. Melissa is a great asset to any MBA application process, and I would absolutely recommend her to any and all people looking for someone to help their application make a splash.
Was admitted Round 1 into a Top 5 full-time MBA. Michael was extremely helpful in his review, including both insightful comments on broad topics to include, as well as more specific / tactical edits. I especially appreciated the prompt review cycles (never missed a turnaround time, and often was much faster!). I actually came from another consultant I wasn’t pleased with, and Michael helped get me back on track. With all the uncertainty of applying to school, I can confirm that choosing Michael helped ease the stress!
When I was considering business school, I had a lot of questions about whether it was the right next move. I was already working in investment banking, so I knew that for the return on my investment to work, it would have to be a top school. After doing some research, I scheduled a call with Melissa and she helped walk me through every aspect of the process and figure out if the schools I was interested in were attainable. I could tell that she really knew what she was talking about, and she definitely was on my team from day one. After our discussion, I knew that despite the somewhat off putting price tag, it was worth it given my busy schedule.
Once I was signed up, Melissa was by my side every step of the way. She was incredibly responsive and kept my application process moving very efficiently. She played a key role in helping me narrow down a list of schools into a targeted application strategy, and then craft a compelling story tailored to each program that would really highlight my strengths. I was surprised a few times when even after several months, she would recall facts or stories that I had mentioned and prompt me to work them into my apps–she made me feel like I was her only client. Melissa did a great job of pushing me to improve areas that were weak and to really focus my essays on “showing” and not “telling”. I leaned on Melissa every step of the way, and by the time I was ready to submit applications, I knew that I was putting my best possible foot forward.
A few key parts of the process where Melissa really shined:
– School Strategy: Melissa really helped me pick realistic and stretch schools, offering insights on culture and recruiting that gave me a lot of confidence in my ultimate choices – Brainstorming: I found it hard to translate my experiences and background into a cohesive story, and Melissa was fantastic at working with me to filter out the unnecessary parts and keep the good stuff – Essays: Melissa was very prompt, almost always flipping drafts back to me next-day (sometimes the same day) and helping me make consistent progress – General Support & Advice: Any time I had an application-related question (seriously, any time… I had a ton of questions), Melissa was more than happy to talk and help me work through it. She was 100% on my team, and gave me a ton of confidence in my processes
Overall, I couldn’t recommend her enough! Melissa pushed me where I needed it and supported me the entire way, and definitely played a key role in my admissions (with fellowships) to Wharton and Columbia.
Katy went above and beyond helping me prepare for the interview process! As someone who previously did not have a great deal of interviewing experience, I sought out Katy before my interviews – it was the best decision I made in 2018! She systematically went through question after question with me, helping me frame my answers. She helped me understand the interview process from the admissions committee’s point-of-view, and she gave me confidence in my answers. I cannot express how much her help meant to me. When you work with Katy, she treats you like family. She cares tremendously for the success of her students! Katy is outstanding in every way!
After a 30-minute free consultation call, I knew right away that Harshad is the person to partner with on my MBA journey. Harshad took the time to understand my background, both personal and professional, to assist me in identifying an impactful theme for my essays.
Harshad’s honest, yet constructive feedback helped me perform deep introspections that led to crafting essays I never thought I could. His focus, analysis, and continuous comments challenged me to develop stronger versions of my story. His structured approach allowed me to finalize my essays way ahead of the schools’ deadlines. Although Harshad promises a two day turnaround period, he would usually get back to his clients in less than 48 hours. His dedication to his clients is unparalleled.
Despite my lower than average GMAT score, I secured interviews in four of the top five business schools in the US, all thanks to Harshad’s guidance and support. Harshad made the impossible possible.
Working with Devi was a fantastic experience! When I first received my HBS interview invite, I was happy, but my happiness quickly turned into panic. I did not know how to prepare for interviews, let alone HBS! Devi’s patience and guidance helped me overcome my challenges. Her dedication to perfect my performance demonstrates her sincerity in helping make a difference in people’s lives. Despite being eight time zones apart, Devi trained me every day via Skype and took the time and effort to fly halfway around the world to conduct with me multiple in-person mock interviews to make sure I was ready for my interview. She helped me self-reflect to extract impactful stories related to my resume and taught me the right approach to connect my different stories. Most importantly, she trained me not to sound “scripted”! Although I practiced with Devi for HBS, her preparations paid dividends. I leveraged her approach during my interviews with other top schools and, thanks to her, I also got admitted to Stanford and Wharton!!! Working with Devi is the best investment ever!!!
When I first met Katy, I wasn’t sold on using an admissions consultant. I am so fortunate I did, as Katy was invaluable in my admissions journey. She made a genuine effort to get to know me and understand how my background influenced my passion for social impact. Katy provided tremendous insight into the thought process of admissions officers. Her brainstorming sessions helped me clearly articulate my background and aspirations.
Katy helped me craft a complete application, from start to finish. She paid tremendous attention to every detail of the application, which was particularly helpful in the short answers and in preparing my recommenders. Katy’s insider knowledge into the admissions process was extremely helpful in bringing my passion for social impact to life. Thanks to Katy I received admissions offers to Wharton and Booth, with merit scholarships. I would highly recommend Katy to any applicant.
A friend suggested I enlist a consultant to help me with my business school applications, in order to increase my chances of success. When I started doing my research, my initial reaction on finding out about the cost of MBAmission was ‘no way’; it felt too expensive and I was convinced I could write a decent essay or two on my own. How lucky I was that, despite my initial hesitation, I decided to stump up the money and chose Krista.
From the early brainstorming stage I knew I had found the right person. Krista challenged me to be really reflective and dig deep into why I’d made the choices I had, which helped me develop a genuinely introspective approach to my applications and the wider question of ‘why business school’. She then created a map of my experiences, which enabled us to select the best examples and craft detailed essay outlines, in a way that made the essay writing itself feel very enjoyable. I cannot tell you how much time this saved! By the end of my first draft I honestly felt I had something that was nearly ready to submit. However, Krista continued to help me refine my thinking to ensure each example was well rounded and delivered with impact. Her favorite phrase – ‘more specificity’ – helped me continue to work at my application and ensure I was really proud of the streamlined clarity of the final versions.
Throughout our four months working together Krista was incredibly responsive, making me feel like I was her only client. She pushed me choose a stretch school and helped me craft applications that got me an offer to both my target and stretch school. After my wife, she was the second person I told that when I was offered a place. Words cannot do justice to the value of the support she gave me and I would, and do, recommend her to anyone!
I approached Katy for a two school package about a month and a half before the round 1 deadlines for HBS and Wharton Lauder. As a Latin American applicant coming from a traditional finance background, I wasn’t very clear on the messaging that I wanted to convey in my applications. Katy was HIGHLY recommended to me by 2 Latin American HBS alums and she definitely exceeded all of my expectations.
Although I was relatively late to begin preparing my application materials for round 1, Katy was an incredible resource. She was very knowledgeable about both programs and always made herself available to answer all of my questions. We did a very thorough brainstorming session before beginning to write my applications which was key to the messaging I transmitted throughout each of the applications I submitted. She also worked closely with me to device a strategy on how approach my recommenders.
Once I began writing my essays and preparing my resume and other required materials, Katy was always available to review each draft and very quick to provide feedback until I had the perfect application for each school. After I received my interview invites for both programs, Katy’s mock interviews were on point and her advice was critical to my preparation for that last piece of the application process.
I would HIGHLY recommend Katy to anyone applying to a top MBA program. I am very pleased with my final results and have to admit that Katy was instrumental to my acceptance to HBS and Wharton Lauder!
I absolutely loved working with Melissa on a 2 school package. I did a lot of research on consultants, and Melissa stood out as a great fit based on mbaMission’s reputation, and Melissa’s professional experience and similar school selection. The biggest area she helped with was creating my story. mbaMission sends over a huge document to fill out your personal and career path, and Melissa spent 2 hours going through the document, asking probing questions, and by the end we had a consistent story that I was able to use at each school. I had an idea in mind of how I wanted my story to look, and she was able to point out the parts which might be problematic when applying, as well as the key areas to highlight when applying. We also had a school-selection discussion before this, where I was able to list what I was looking for in a school, and Melissa went through the pros/cons of each school which would be a fit. Melissa was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to provide school-specific insights that I don’t think I would’ve been able to find myself. She was able to provide best practices in all areas of the application too, including how best to prime your recommenders, how/when to show interest in each school, and a clear timeline. One area I would like to see a bit more focus is on some of the “formatting” best practices, such as making all essays into PDF. Some of these are probably pretty self-explanatory, but I would want them to be more explicit. I was ultimately admitted to two schools and waitlisted at the third (I only applied to three schools). Consultants are obviously very expensive, but I would 100% recommend Melissa to anyone who is looking.
After not getting into my top schools, I worked with Jeremy on a ‘ding review’ where he looked over my application and walked me through how I could’ve improved it. Having worked with other consultants before, I found this experience to be by far the most insightful conversation I’ve had in regards to my application. I’m left kicking myself at not having used Jeremy before but I will certainly do so as I continue to pursue an MBA path. What sets Jeremy apart is his knack for finding the human element behind the application and painting a picture so that human element shines its brightest.
I purchased a two school start to finish package with Nisha and it was worth every penny. Her resume critique is the gold standard. She helped me develop a resume that allowed me to fully explain my story but still remain concise and not long winded. With the essays she helped me realize the nuances with every essay question. She also helped me realize that every essay must be as concise and to the point. Her interview prep was invaluable. After doing mock interviews with her, going into the real interviews was like doing it a second time, that’s how good she is. In addition to that Nisha was very speedy when it came to essay feedback, even when she was traveling abroad! When it came it to scheduling for interview prep she was very flexible. I am on the east coast and she is on the west and the time difference did not prove to be an obstacle. Overall she exceeded my expectations, I did get into both of the schools I bought the package for.
I purchase the a la carte hourly services through mbaMission, and worked exclusively with Kate. I utilized my time with Kate primarily for refining my application essays’ narrative structure, grammar, and highlighted stories. I also used an hour of time for a mock interview via webcam. Kate was amazing to work with and was a huge reason for my success during Round 1 last year.
I strongly believe that Kate’s advice and suggested edits to my application essays were incredibly beneficial, as some of my initial wording was repetitive, and I sometimes had individual sentences that didn’t fit the overall theme of my essay. She was very honest in her feedback and wasn’t afraid to let me know when certain aspects of an essay just didn’t work. She also had a great deal of knowledge of each school I was applying to (six in total!). This info made my “why MBA” (aka how will our school help you with your post-MBA) story incredibly detailed and more importantly, personalized, for each school I applied to.
Kate was incredibly responsive to the many emails I sent to her for advice, and her suggested edits to application essays I sent her were always returned on time in regards to mbaMission’s standard turnaround time on essay feedback/edits. As I was applying to so many programs in Round 1, it was a necessity to work with someone who was professional and able to get back suggested edits to me as quickly as possible. Kate was all that, but also incredibly friendly and had a good sense of humor.
I also used one hour of my purchased time to conduct a mock interview with Kate (for CBS). We conducted the interview via webcam, ran down a handful of common CBS interview questions, and then discussed the interview and points of improvement. Kate was able to identify a few points of improvement and my actual interview ended up being quite similar to our mock interview.
Ultimately, I received interviews for all six of the schools I applied to, and received offers from three schools (including an M7with merit-based aid!). I withdrew my applications from the other three, but I’m confident I would have received offers from all of them.
Overall, I thought Kate was vital to my success in Round 1, and I’m glad I decided to work with her all throughout the application process. I was so satisfied with her advice, that I purchased additional hours twice! For any applicants applying in Round 3 this year, or applying the next admissions cycle, I cannot recommend Kate and mbaMission enough!
mbaMission was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the MBA application. Education in an investment and mbaMission was part of that investment; it was well worth it. The GMAT and MBA application process can be overwhelming but I received personalized feedback from very qualified consultants. The individualized support helped me focus my attention in the right direction and highlight my strengths to achieve my ultimate goal -acceptance into one of the top MBA programs in Canada- MBA, Class of 2018!
In May I signed up for a 5-school Round 1 package with Melissa. After our 30-minute consultation I knew she was the perfect fit, giving me the difficult-to-hear advice while also ensuring me that hard work could put me in the position I wanted to be in. At that point I had taken the GMAT 3 times and did not have a score that would allow me to apply to the business schools I wanted to attend. To make a long story short, 5 months later I had switched tests and taken the GRE twice; applied to Fuqua, Darden, Ross, Tuck; and was accepted to all four schools! None of this would have been possible without Melissa.
Although I had gone through two full GMAT courses and many private GMAT tutoring sessions, Melissa was the first person to encourage me to switch to the GRE. I took her advice and after taking the GRE twice I got a score that was well within my target school’s ranges.
The essay writing process with Melissa was fun! Melissa took the time to really get to know me so the topics that we picked for each essay prompt truly reflected my personality, my reason for applying to business school, and my goals. I appreciated that Melissa asked me pointed questions, pushing me to dig deeper to “show, not tell” my experiences. In the end, I felt that my applications were a very wholesome story and I was very pleased and proud to submit them to my original list of target schools. In terms of process, Melissa far exceeded the expected turn around response time. From turning around essay drafts to responding to my questions on how to fill out other aspects of the application, Melissa was incredibly prompt, frequently responding to me within hours.
Melissa was very helpful in the interview prep process, spending an hour on the phone with me before each interview, critiquing my responses to her huge interview question bank. These sessions were incredibly helpful and gave me a lot of confidence walking into interviews.
Melissa is absolutely worth the investment, my process is proof. She is also a wonderful person who genuinely cares about her students, you’re not another number with Melissa. If you’re looking for someone who will get you from where you are to accepted to multiple schools by helping, guiding, and pushing you to put your best foot forward, Melissa is the best person for the job.
I cannot recommend working with Devi enough. Once I got the HBS interview, I signed up for 2 mock interviews with her and honestly feel like it could have made the difference between my accept / reject. Having been an interviewer in the past, Devi knows the HBS interview process inside and out. Prior to our first interview she had studied my application thoroughly and was able to ask specific, targeted questions (many of which actually came up during my interview!). In addition to helping me understand what the interview would be like, Devi was particularly good at helping me think through how to answer questions thoughtfully and how to emphasize certain points I wanted to get across. In addition she’s super nice, honest, and gives constructive feedback. Really also got the feeling that she’s genuinely rooting for me. Totally worth it and would recommend the sessions to any of your future clients.
Working with Katy for round 1 admissions this year has been great! The advice she has given me was invaluable for my applications, and helped me get accepted to two M7 programs, both of which with scholarship offers.
When I was at the beginning of the application process, I had 30-minute free consultation sessions. In these sessions, I connected very well with Katy and she gave me incredibly helpful advice upfront, before I had even chosen to work with her. I was not feeling great about my chances at top-tier schools, and Katy made me fee more confident. Once I decided to work with Katy, we held a brainstorming session where she not only helped me decide on my list of schools, but also went deep into my background and helped me narrow down really solid, coherent stories for my essays. Without this help, combined with her amazing assistance on my essay drafts, I would not have had nearly as clear and comprehensive essays. Her advice also extended to interview prep. She has incredibly deep experience with the interviews at all of the top schools and helped me refine my interview answers, making me feel much less nervous about the interviews.
Without Katy’s help, I do not believe that I would have gotten into Kellogg or Sloan. I would definitely recommend her to anybody considering applying to business school.
I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for Jeremy and the whole mbaMission team. Jeremy was so EXTREMELY helpful in guiding me through my graduate school application process and was so reassuring that I would hit my deadlines. He instilled confidence in my writing ability and helped me produce my strongest work while also being my biggest supporter. I truly could not have applied without his expertise, insight and judgment. Jeremy not only helped me narrate my personal story and experiences, but also portray my strengths and skillset. He had incredible insight and guidance when structuring my thoughts in the most concise, creative, professional and affluent manner.
Additionally, he was especially responsive and accommodating to my schedule and learning needs. Jeremy is a genuine, caring and positive person who deeply wants to help others become successful with their gradate school endeavors. He is amazing and what he does and I will forever be grateful for his services and encouragement in this next step of my professional journey.
Top-down message: Katy is a very experienced and fantastic person and you should take Katy if you want to get in to top MBA programs such as HBS or Stanford GSB. I was not sure at the beginning if I needed admission consultant to help me with my applications. I thought that I could easily read all the tips online, ask my friends and create a strong MBA profile. I could not be more wrong. Application process at top MBAs is very competitive and complex. There are several factors that may influence decision whether or not people are accepted. Katy, as ex-consultant, is very structured, takes care of all details and put a lot of effort even in creating perfect short answers in the application. She was able to use 100% potential from my story resulting in acceptance to Stanford Graduate School of Business. I was impressed from the beginning how she created my story during first brainstorming session. She helped me differentiate from overpopulated pool of management consultants by bringing several insights from my personal life. During the process, she was not only my real advisor, but also a friend, who helped to keep me up during the process. I am very grateful to her (best decision I could make!) and I recommend Katy to anyone, who would like to study at top MBA program and need some additional guidance.
