Consultant Bio

Hi, I’m Angela, and I’m a lifelong student of human nature. I’m fascinated by what it means to be human, what unites us, and how we can fulfill our true potential. I also believe that life is supposed to be fun, and therefore, so is work. During my nearly 20-year professional development career, I have helped thousands of people (mostly MBAs) uncover their unique character, values, and professional desires, so that they can shine in any environment, get everything they want in their careers, and have more fun along the way. Working with me means you’ll be more self-aware, more self-confident, and better connected in your community.

After my MBA at Chicago Booth, I did my apprenticeship in business at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). I was a consultant, and then I shifted to a training and recruiting role: I coached women from top 10 business schools through BCG’s recruiting process and then later to succeed at the firm. Some other cool stuff I have done that I use every day in my work: I’m a trained screenwriter, experiential philosopher (I have a degree from Yale to prove it!), and a lover of Eastern thought, mindfulness, and meditation.

Company Information

OK you’re smart, so you’ve probably read a lot of these. Here’s how we’re the same as some admissions consultants out there: in our elite school packages, we touch every single part of your application for your target schools as many times as we need to until the finished product inspires both you and us. We bring over a decade of expertise to bear, and we do all of this on a predictable timeline. Much more interesting, though, is what makes Career Protocol different. We’re not really consultants. We’re teachers. Career Protocol is a Professional Development Firm.

We think the MBA application process is a golden opportunity to uplevel your professional profile and executive skillset BEFORE you take the leap into the MBA. So instead of simply editing your essays, we use the MBA application as a training ground for new capabilities that will last you a lifetime.

Menu of Services and Associated Costs

Think of the Irresistible MBA Application Package (as we call it) as a nearly year-long course in executive-level self-awareness, communication, and relationship building skills tailored to your needs and experiences. We work with you on every aspect of the MBA application not only to maximize your chances of success but also to uplevel your executive skillset in the process. Your Career Protocol Instructor will teach you how to explore your values, tell epic stories, and build genuine relationships with your fellow humans in everything you do (yes, even when you’re just writing an MBA application!) so that you can have the impact you want to have in your career. Imagine how empowered you’ll feel the first day of class knowing that you used the whole year prior to your MBA building key leadership skills with an experienced teacher by your side.

If you want someone to edit your essays, work with friends and family. If you want to transform your ability to stand out for the rest of your career as the bright shiny unicorn* you are, work with us.

*We mean unicorn in the one-of-a-kind-unique sense, not in the instagrammy** rainbow sense.

** We do like instagrammy rainbow unicorns, tho. Especially the cupcake kind.

The fun doesn’t stop. We’ve got…

  • The Interview Hero Coaching Program
  • YOMO: You Only MBA Once (AKA Your Guide to Getting Your Best MBA Internship), and
  • How to Be the Smartest Person in the Room (AKA The Consulting Case Interview Hero Program)

These are all affordable group coaching programs to help you target and get the internship and post-MBA job you really want, while – of course – building your professional skillset every step of the way.

  • The Best for a Reason
If you want to compete for a spot at one of the best business schools, you need to work with the best consultant. I, like most people in my position, was apprehensive to spend the money on a consultant and went back and forth on the idea for several weeks/months. Then I spoke with Angela. Within a few minutes of my free consultation, I was sold. I wasn’t interested in paying someone to compliment me... Angela holds no punches and tells it like it is so if you’re looking for someone to stroke your ego and pat you on the back, look elsewhere. I wanted real, candid feedback. Aside from being in the military, I’m no different than most candidates interested in top tier MBA ...

  • Authentic Magic!
I first spoke with Angela in 2018. I was preparing to apply to MBA programs and I felt so overwhelmed by the process- what schools to apply to, how to prepare essays, how to present myself, and when to take the GMAT. I scheduled a call with Angela and told her the unfiltered truth about me, where I come from and where I’m going. I have a very atypical background for a potential MBA Candidate and I’m so grateful that she was honest with me. She told me that I was the second most complicated case she has heard and that my best course of action was to be raw and authentic in the MBA application, embracing my truth and using it as the foundation ...

  • Angela is an Outstanding Coach & Guide!
I worked with Angela on my MBA applications for 2019 entry. During our free consultation, what encouraged me to work with Angela was her candor, and fascinatingly accurate analysis of my profile, my key strengths and my required areas of focus! Angela pushed me to truly think about myself, my achievements, and what I valued the most as I prepared for my MBA essays and resume. When I finally did click submit, I was confident that I was putting forward extremely strong, thoughtful and honest applications. While I ultimately didn’t end up going to B-school due to life admin that came up (like waiting for my permanent residency to come through), Angela was a huge influence in not only putting forward competitive B-school applications but also helping ...

  • Interview Hero: I Was Doing It All Wrong Before I Read Angela's Book!
Perhaps the best part about Angela's book was that it was all so very relatable- the fact that I was thinking an interviewer was judging every word that came out of my mouth and that uncomfortable feeling when I'm asked to brag about my proudest moments in life. It was a huge relief to find out that most people undergo these feelings. The other best part has to be 'the friendship mindset' that Angela introduced in this book. Going into an interview with this frame of mind made me feel so much more authentic and focus a lot less on the end result and more on the conversation in front of me while I was in my interviews. Previously, I followed the very tried and tested ...

  • Angela Wants You To Succeed More Than You Do!
I knew in our first 30-minute call that Angela was the real deal. After just 10 minutes on the phone, it seemed like she had totally figured me out, far more than I had managed to figure myself out after several months of introspection. After another 10 minutes, she had come up with a strategy that suddenly made my whole story make sense and was the missing piece of the application puzzle that I had been struggling with for weeks (and all this was during a free consultation!). She was also able to identify my fit with the schools I was planning on applying to. And having now got all the results from the schools, she was spot on in terms of predicting where I ...

  • Angela Believed In Me & Got Me To Where I Needed To Go
    1 year ago
I found Angela when I was thinking of applying to business school, but in our initial call she (very bluntly) told me I wasn't ready - my candidacy wasn't strong enough for the schools I wanted to go to. While she didn’t believe my candidacy was strong enough for business school, Angela did believe in me. She was able to recognize and dissect my strengths and instill the confidence I needed to move forward. Following that call, I managed to land an internship at a top 3 management consulting firm. I had a few months to prove myself to the firm for a chance at the full-time offer and I knew that Angela could help me make the most of my resources. Throughout the internship, Angela ...

  • A Thought Partner For The Process
Angela was instrumental to my acceptance to Harvard Business School, the business school of my dreams. I could not have asked for a better and more trusted business school consultant. I interviewed a few consultants recommended to me by colleagues and mentors and I immediately gravitated towards Angela. Her experience is unparalleled and the numbers spoke for themselves. Over her 10 years of experiences, she consulted with 300 candidates, and she also is a well-regarded career and interview coach. With my high-reaching goals (only applying to HBS and Stanford GSB), I wanted someone who knew not only the essay but the entire process inside and out. While I believed in my qualifications, I also knew my Achilles Heel – I was indecisive at times, and with ...

  • Thank You For Bringing Out The Fighter In Me!
I knew that I wanted to work with Angela after listening to her lead a webinar with Forte. Her energy, sense of humor, and direct approach won me over. Here was a woman who had a non-traditional story like me. It brought her to South Korea to teach and to one of the best business schools in the U.S. So naturally, I thought that she would be able to relate to my nonprofit path and help me articulate a path that honored my journey and I was right. With Angela, it’s not just about getting you into business school. It’s about articulating a thoughtful and honest career plan and not about creating some contrived story that you think business schools want to hear. So, after ...

  • Thanks For Making My Dream Come True!
I couldn't be happier I made the decision to work with Angela. I have done a lot in my past; I succeeded but I also failed many times. Angela helped me look inside and develop a perspective for my future by looking at my past. She listened to me very deeply to then tell me who I am. When she did that, I got emotional and cried. She did much more than getting me into Harvard: She helped me connect all the dots, find confidence in myself and tell my story for the first time. Angela, I'll forever be grateful for what you did for me. Thanks for making my dream come true!

  • Angela Was The Key To Success On My MBA Journey!
Angela is inspiring, authentic, and truly cares about the people she works with. From the very beginning, she gave me candid and realistic feedback on my candidacy, specifically around my low test scores. What impressed me most about her is that she didn’t push to make a sale. Instead, she recommended that I spend my time and resources getting my weaker test scores up, even though she knew this meant I could afford less of her time. On top of that, she referred me to an amazing tutor who helped me gain points on both the quant and verbal sections. Her coaching is inspiring, her resources are extraordinary, but the reason you should work with her is that she puts the best interests of the ...
