Consultant Bio

Hi, I’m Angela, and I’m a lifelong student of human nature. I’m fascinated by what it means to be human, what unites us, and how we can fulfill our true potential. I also believe that life is supposed to be fun, and therefore, so is work. During my nearly 20-year professional development career, I have helped thousands of people (mostly MBAs) uncover their unique character, values, and professional desires, so that they can shine in any environment, get everything they want in their careers, and have more fun along the way. Working with me means you’ll be more self-aware, more self-confident, and better connected in your community.

After my MBA at Chicago Booth, I did my apprenticeship in business at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). I was a consultant, and then I shifted to a training and recruiting role: I coached women from top 10 business schools through BCG’s recruiting process and then later to succeed at the firm. Some other cool stuff I have done that I use every day in my work: I’m a trained screenwriter, experiential philosopher (I have a degree from Yale to prove it!), and a lover of Eastern thought, mindfulness, and meditation.

Company Information

OK you’re smart, so you’ve probably read a lot of these. Here’s how we’re the same as some admissions consultants out there: in our elite school packages, we touch every single part of your application for your target schools as many times as we need to until the finished product inspires both you and us. We bring over a decade of expertise to bear, and we do all of this on a predictable timeline. Much more interesting, though, is what makes Career Protocol different. We’re not really consultants. We’re teachers. Career Protocol is a Professional Development Firm.

We think the MBA application process is a golden opportunity to uplevel your professional profile and executive skillset BEFORE you take the leap into the MBA. So instead of simply editing your essays, we use the MBA application as a training ground for new capabilities that will last you a lifetime.

Menu of Services and Associated Costs

THE IRRESISTIBLE MBA APPLICATION PACKAGE

Think of the Irresistible MBA Application Package (as we call it) as a nearly year-long course in executive-level self-awareness, communication, and relationship building skills tailored to your needs and experiences. We work with you on every aspect of the MBA application not only to maximize your chances of success but also to uplevel your executive skillset in the process. Your Career Protocol Instructor will teach you how to explore your values, tell epic stories, and build genuine relationships with your fellow humans in everything you do (yes, even when you’re just writing an MBA application!) so that you can have the impact you want to have in your career. Imagine how empowered you’ll feel the first day of class knowing that you used the whole year prior to your MBA building key leadership skills with an experienced teacher by your side.

If you want someone to edit your essays, work with friends and family. If you want to transform your ability to stand out for the rest of your career as the bright shiny unicorn* you are, work with us.

*We mean unicorn in the one-of-a-kind-unique sense, not in the instagrammy** rainbow sense.

** We do like instagrammy rainbow unicorns, tho. Especially the cupcake kind.

ONCE YOU GET INTO BUSINESS SCHOOL…

The fun doesn’t stop. We’ve got…

  • The Interview Hero Coaching Program
  • YOMO: You Only MBA Once (AKA Your Guide to Getting Your Best MBA Internship), and
  • How to Be the Smartest Person in the Room (AKA The Consulting Case Interview Hero Program)

These are all affordable group coaching programs to help you target and get the internship and post-MBA job you really want, while – of course – building your professional skillset every step of the way.

  • A Journey Into You
Thinking about going back to get your MBA? Not sure where to start? Stop guessing. You've found the person and company to make your next step a reality. Going to business school is a huge decision and going through the Admissions process is no cake walk. Working with Angela Guido and the team at Career Protocols helped me ensure this decision was the right one for me (they won't pre-sell it) and made this arduous application process so easy. Angela is the epitome of organized (though she is too modest to say so herself). She provides all her clients with access to a portal that is rich with resources that give you details on all the programs you're interested in AND more importantly breaks down the application ...

  • To Those Who Want To Win & Win It Right
    1 year ago
After my 2 years of experience knowing a number of consultants out there (working directly or hearing about them indirectly through friends) in my entire journey of MBA admissions, I feel that I ought to give honest feedback to help those who are now standing in my shoes where I was back then. We spend so much money on consultants that we actually cannot afford or even imagine because for some of us one of the reasons of doing an MBA is because we are not in a good financial position, to begin with. But we do spend that major chunk of our savings on these consultants, for the betterment of higher purposes in our lives, thinking that the value returned will suffice the loss. ...

  • Angela Is A Magician
Angela is a magician. Far beyond a helpful editor, she helped me see the value in work and experiences that I had - to that point - thought of as liabilities in my MBA applications. Through her questions, she helped me recognize a consistent thread through my varied career, that I had not seen. Having recognized it, I found incredibly rewarding to reflect on and write about my story for the applications. The entire process was an invaluable exercise in reflection and telling my story – to myself as much as to adcomms - and I reaped rewards far beyond admittance to my top choice, M7 program. So glad I was able to work with Angela.

  • Awe-Inspiring Angela
Angela made the MBA application process such a fun and pleasant self-reflection journey! Through her guidance and coaching, I feel I have a much better sense of what matters to me, what truly makes me happy and what type of career I want to pursue. This self-knowledge made my applications shine but more importantly will follow me through the rest of my life and guide many of my personal and professional decisions. I was originally very hesitant to first to work with an MBA consultant after having a terrible experience a few years ago. During that whole application process, we only had one 30-minute phone call. Everything else was over email. Outside of reviewing my resume, he took no time to get to know me as ...

  • From Reach To Reality
I first learned about Angela when visiting business schools across the US in an effort to narrow down my long list of target MBA programs. Many students I spoke to had used admissions consultants, but one name kept coming up again and again: Angela Guido. These recurring references gave me confidence that Angela knew what she was doing before I had even arranged our free 30-minute consultation. Contracting an admissions consultant is no small financial commitment (aside from college tuition, it remains my single greatest expense to date!) so I was sure to speak to a number of potential consultants to find the right one. While I’m sure the other consultants would have helped contribute to my success, the calls I had with them were somewhat ...

  • Angela Is The One
Angela Guido is the most pleasant, personal, productive and above-and-beyond type of high-quality consultant you could possibly get for professional or graduate schools admissions, and career development. As a management professional whose career goal is to strive for perfection and excellence, Angela knows what it takes to beautify and tailor your personal stories to take you where you'd like to be. She really does rock and roll! I invited Angela's service for both kinds when I was in mid-career in higher education management. She helped me apply to business and masters programs and develop my career with my organization. Our thorough, realistic and intensive consultation sessions made me become aware of a new, competitive, confident and unique me. Sometimes we have to admit that we don't ...

  • From Boo-Hoo To Booth

What a difference. That was all I could think after wrapping up my first call with Angela. My MBA application wounds were still fresh, having just been rejected by all of my top choice schools. I had worked with one of the “big name” MBA consulting firms on my applications, and while my consultant was helpful editing my essays for grammar and clarity, they didn’t push me on the real meat of my content. I certainly didn’t feel I got value for the money I spent. I decided if I was going to re-apply, I needed to find someone who could really make a difference in my application. From the first call with Angela, I knew she would make that difference. Angela’s client portal was super ...

  • Angela Is The Guiding Light That Brought Me Out Of Darkness
    1 year ago
I suffer from an anxiety disorder. So much so that if I am being tested for an exam or interview, my legs start shivering and teeth chattering. I can hear my heartbeats out loud. I had a B-School interview lined up for 21st Feb, and I wondered how can my body be more nervous that I actually felt I was. Over time, My husband and I have become a big fan of Angela’s work - listening to her webinars and reading her stuff for over a year an half. He the Interview Hero class and book and asked me to take it up as the first thing for preparation. Interview Hero was like getting myself checked up with a psychologist. Even though still anxious, I started looking ...

  • From Frenzied to Fellowship
I had spoken to an MBA consultant prior to Angela to better understand my strength as a candidate. That initial call with the consultant left me discouraged and frenzied—I felt like there was no way I was going to get into a top program with my statistics. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Angela and in our initial consultation call, she immediately reassured me that I was capable enough to get into a top program. Her optimism in my potential gave me the confidence I needed to surmount the MBA application process. Working with Angela was a very introspective journey. Early in our calls, she was able to quickly and accurately pinpoint who I was as a person and what I valued; and her insights made all the ...

  • Angela Made The Process More Positive Than I Ever Imagined Possible
    1 year ago
Working with Angela on my business school applications is one of the best decisions I ever made—not only because Angela helped me get the results I wanted, but because her coaching made a stressful, often overwhelming application process more positive than I ever imagined possible. I was admitted to several M7 schools, including one school with a generous merit scholarship and Stanford GSB. I am over the moon with the outcome, and I am also extremely happy with the personal and professional value I derived from working with Angela to translate my personal values into tangible career goals. Working with Angela helped me grow both personally and professionally; I emerged surer of myself and my judgment, and more confident in what makes me unique—especially in the ...
