Consultant Bio

Hi, I’m Angela, and I’m a lifelong student of human nature. I’m fascinated by what it means to be human, what unites us, and how we can fulfill our true potential. I also believe that life is supposed to be fun, and therefore, so is work. During my nearly 20-year professional development career, I have helped thousands of people (mostly MBAs) uncover their unique character, values, and professional desires, so that they can shine in any environment, get everything they want in their careers, and have more fun along the way. Working with me means you’ll be more self-aware, more self-confident, and better connected in your community.

After my MBA at Chicago Booth, I did my apprenticeship in business at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). I was a consultant, and then I shifted to a training and recruiting role: I coached women from top 10 business schools through BCG’s recruiting process and then later to succeed at the firm. Some other cool stuff I have done that I use every day in my work: I’m a trained screenwriter, experiential philosopher (I have a degree from Yale to prove it!), and a lover of Eastern thought, mindfulness, and meditation.

Company Information

OK you’re smart, so you’ve probably read a lot of these. Here’s how we’re the same as some admissions consultants out there: in our elite school packages, we touch every single part of your application for your target schools as many times as we need to until the finished product inspires both you and us. We bring over a decade of expertise to bear, and we do all of this on a predictable timeline. Much more interesting, though, is what makes Career Protocol different. We’re not really consultants. We’re teachers. Career Protocol is a Professional Development Firm.

We think the MBA application process is a golden opportunity to uplevel your professional profile and executive skillset BEFORE you take the leap into the MBA. So instead of simply editing your essays, we use the MBA application as a training ground for new capabilities that will last you a lifetime.

Menu of Services and Associated Costs

Think of the Irresistible MBA Application Package (as we call it) as a nearly year-long course in executive-level self-awareness, communication, and relationship building skills tailored to your needs and experiences. We work with you on every aspect of the MBA application not only to maximize your chances of success but also to uplevel your executive skillset in the process. Your Career Protocol Instructor will teach you how to explore your values, tell epic stories, and build genuine relationships with your fellow humans in everything you do (yes, even when you’re just writing an MBA application!) so that you can have the impact you want to have in your career. Imagine how empowered you’ll feel the first day of class knowing that you used the whole year prior to your MBA building key leadership skills with an experienced teacher by your side.

If you want someone to edit your essays, work with friends and family. If you want to transform your ability to stand out for the rest of your career as the bright shiny unicorn* you are, work with us.

*We mean unicorn in the one-of-a-kind-unique sense, not in the instagrammy** rainbow sense.

** We do like instagrammy rainbow unicorns, tho. Especially the cupcake kind.

The fun doesn’t stop. We’ve got…

  • The Interview Hero Coaching Program
  • YOMO: You Only MBA Once (AKA Your Guide to Getting Your Best MBA Internship), and
  • How to Be the Smartest Person in the Room (AKA The Consulting Case Interview Hero Program)

These are all affordable group coaching programs to help you target and get the internship and post-MBA job you really want, while – of course – building your professional skillset every step of the way.

P&Q Consultant Reviews

  • Angela Is On Another Level
Having wrapped up my business school application season, I can confidently say that deciding to work with Angela and her team at Career Protocol was possibly the most critical decision I made in the process. I spoke with over half a dozen consultants/firms before my initial call with Angela. A few minutes in, the choice was obvious. While talking with most consultants I could feel this analysis going on in their minds of my odds of being placed into what tier of the program and where I would fit in their roster of clients for the round. Worse, some largely ignored what I said and instead pushed their own puzzling ideas of paths and programs for me. From the beginning, Angela wasn’t there to talk about schools ...

  • Angela Has The 51%!
I read a book in which the main character (a trainee server at a high-end restaurant) is told that 49% of her job is mastering the mechanics of serving, but the other 51% of the job can’t actually be trained for. You just have to be born a 51 percenter, or someone with the empathy, compassion, and intuition necessary to excel at making people feel seen and taken care of. I couldn’t help but remember this passage when trying to explain why working with Angela was so valuable. Plenty of consultants can offer you the 49% percent, including Angela: her deep expertise about the admissions process saved me so much time and angst versus navigating all the competing advice out on the Web. But I really ...

  • Energizing, Inspiring & Fun!
Angela's motivational energy, refreshing creativity, and witty humor made the process of applying to business school surprisingly a lot of fun! It was so comforting and inspiring to have an educated buddy advising me throughout the entire process, and thanks to her, I was admitted to my top choice business school as a Forte Fellow. Though even more meaningful than the admission alone was that Angela set me up for success in business school and beyond: answering questions about what's important to me and bringing to light my key stories to prepare me for future interviews. Because of this thoughtful reflection with Angela, I now feel totally prepared for the MBA with confidence in where I'm starting from, which is especially valuable to me as ...

  • A Deep Dive for Transformational Results
    1 year ago
Working with Angela was a transformational experience. Not only did I receive acceptances to the two programs to which I applied, I also discovered a lot about myself in the process. I reached out to Angela after speaking with several other P&Q top-ranked consultants. When I spoke with the other consultants, each told me: "This is what you need to do to get into X school." With Angela, it was different. She asked me deep questions that caused me to pause, reflect, and think about who I was and where I was heading. Angela helped me ask the right questions instead of giving me the right answers. Instead of "Let me tell you...." it was "Tell me more...." As a result, I came out of the process with ...

  • Lifelong investment!
When I signed up with Angela, I thought I was signing up just for MBA applications but little did I know... I'd read reviews about how working with Angela is like "an MRI for your soul" - how accurate that was. The work we did before starting a single application is something that I still use and will continue to. I started out worried that I might not look so impressive on paper but Angela really went in-depth and we framed my story in a way that showcased my past experiences but also explained my future goals. We'd spent so much time on this that by the time I was writing my final few essays, we didn't need more than 1 draft! (The first one took ...

  • Working with Angela changed my personal & professional life
    1 year ago
I am a current second-year student at Booth and was first introduced to Angela this past summer whiling interning at a job that was not a good fit for me - either personally or professionally. Coming back to Booth, I felt completely lost as I always envisioned myself accepting my summer internship offer. However, working with Angela helped me figure out where my true professional interests, my personal strengths and most importantly: What was going to make me happiest after I graduate from Booth. She gently challenged me to no longer "go with the flow" of what my classmates are doing and encouraged me to figure out who I am and what are my values. Finally, she taught me to articulate stories that illuminate such ...

  • Amazingly Talented - Insightful, Smart, No BS, & Super Fun!
I met Angela first at the Forte MBALaunch Kickoff, where she led a workshop on Narrative Theory and How to Tell Your Story -- a session that was like nothing and no-one else in the MBA admissions world and boy did it work! I was working with one other attendee to tell our stories and then rework them using Angela's tips and they went from bland, with little drama, to heartfelt, powerful and convincing! All of the stories we heard that day after she taught us were riveting and made me want to hire the person speaking! Add to that Angela's joyful and humorous approach and I knew immediately that I wanted to work with her. She brought not just her storytelling skills, but ...

  • MBA guru & genius motivator!
After one conversation with Angela, I knew she was the perfect MBA coach for me. I initially had doubts about being a minority candidate with an average GRE score, but Angela’s familiarity with each school and her confidence in my story was all I needed to apply to only M7 schools. In fact, she never even asked me what my GRE score was. While other consultants were worried about checking the boxes on my test score and GPA, Angela focused on helping me submit the most well-rounded application possible.  Her ability to shine light on my greatest strengths really helped me create amazing essays; but it's also what gave me confidence through this tough process. At the school events I attended, when I saw other people freaking ...

  • Rock-solid Coach!
No secret sauce, no sugar coating, no school specific tricks. She listens to you with a fresh mind. This is her most powerful secret that brings out the best in her clients. I have admits from INSEAD and IESE and I truly could not have stood out without sounding authentic in my application, and she made sure I did. When I first started working with Angela, I was looking for her to give me school specific advice and teach me how to sound appealing to individual schools. I was so wrong. She does exactly the opposite. She wants you to narrate your story, and your values with passion in the most authentic way. The fact that she only focuses on the essay question and not the ...

  • Fantastic MBA consultant with the right mix of great experience and an innovative approach
    1 year ago
Angela is a great MBA consultant if you're looking for someone who tells it like it is, is genuine and honest and wants to help you bring out the best of your story in an authentic way. I met Angela as an MBA Launcher through Forté Foundation and got started on my MBA journey with her You Discovery Toolkit. It was the first (very important) step in getting all my motivations and story out into one clear place. I used my Toolkit a lot as I went through the application process to pull out relevant stories and meaningful experiences. I met Angela in person at our MBA Launch event and was even more impressed with her in person: she is smart, confident and speaks with ...
