Stephanie received her BA from Emory University where she was awarded the Sociology Department’s Outstanding Student Award for her writing and research in the field. She later obtained a Master of Science (with a research focus on Career Development Theory and Counseling) from the University of Tennessee. Stephanie worked for global management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, before returning to the university environment to work with students, company recruiters and administrators. As an Admissions Committee member at The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Stephanie traveled both domestically and internationally to recruit students to Duke’s MBA program, evaluated application files and made recommendations for admission. In addition to serving on the Admissions Committee while at Fuqua, Stephanie conducted applicant interviews as well as feedback calls with applicants denied admission to the program in order to assist them in presenting a stronger re-application the following year. Similarly, Stephanie served as an Admissions Consultant to The Foster School of Business at The University of Washington reviewing application files and making recommendations to the Admission Committee at both the undergraduate and MBA level.
Outside of her work in the university setting, Stephanie has worked for a non-profit organization dedicated to guiding underrepresented minority MBA applicants through the admissions process. Applicants who benefitted from her feedback were admitted to top business schools including Harvard Business School, Wharton and Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Stephanie has lived in cities all over the world including Montreal, Canada, Seattle, WA, San Diego, CA, Paris, France and Chicago, IL. She is a native English speaker, but fluent in French.

I was accepted to Wharton, Kellogg, and Tuck with generous scholarships, and I have Stephanie and the SBC team to thank. During my admissions process, I worked with Stephanie C. (a former Admissions Officer). Working with Stephanie was great – she was very professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. Stephanie was super helpful throughout the entire process, even when I was feeling stressed and anxious. She was also always encouraging and positive! I also used the flight test component of SBC, which provided additional helpful context and the Wharton TBD prep was incredibly useful to help prepare for my Wharton interview.
Working with Stephanie has been enlightening and seamless. After rejection in the 2020 admissions cycle, I knew I had to reassess my application. A friend recommended working with an admissions consultant and after thorough research, I chose to work with SBC. My first interaction with Stephanie consisted of honest and valuable feedback. I was facing an uphill battle; an untraditional background and blemishes in my undergrad studies. I shared my story and through her guidance I developed a cohesive narrative and a linear strategy. From there she made school recommendations, resume edits, and numerous essay reviews. Throughout the process I also found myself reaching out to her frequently to touch base or ask minor questions. As the first person in my family to pursue an MBA, I lacked the “insider” info or the support from someone who has been in the trenches. Stephanie served as my go-to, she contextualized everything and provided me with the lens of the adcom. My work with Stephanie transformed my candidacy and restored my confidence in the application process. The pride she takes in her work, attention to detail, and responsiveness are unmatched. With Stephanie’s help, I received interview invitations from every school, with early admission into one and pending decisions from others. Not only is Stephanie’s craft and knowledge exceptional, but her support and kindness make her an ideal consultant. I would fully endorse Stephanie and the SBC group to any prospective MBA candidate!
I received my admission to Michigan Ross this week (with a merit scholarship, no less), and I literally don’t think it would have happened without my SBC consultant, Stephanie. I was referred to SBC by two past clients, and I was not disappointed. Ross was my first choice and the only application I needed to submit, ultimately, thanks to the guidance I received from SBC. Stephanie worked with me on my essays and resume, as well as on interview prep, and her advice on all of these facets of my application was pragmatic and efficient while ensuring that I was presenting myself genuinely to the admissions committee. I truly appreciated the expert advice and insight throughout the process.
I had a fantastic experience working with Stacy Blackman Consulting and highly recommend their services to prospective applicants. My consultant Stephanie went above and beyond to shepherd me through the process. Believe it or not, I actually had fun while applying! As a former admissions officer at Fuqua, Stephanie has a deep understanding of what the top MBA programs are looking for. She helped me tailor my narrative in a way that highlighted my strengths and unique qualities.
Though Stephanie was my primary contact, the whole team was accessible and invested in my success. After preparing my application, I was able to submit a “flight test” to another former admissions officer on the team. Having a fresh set of eyes look critically at my application before submission was invaluable.
I applied to two top MBA programs and was accepted to both, one of which offered me a scholarship. I think my partnership with Stephanie truly made a difference and I am so grateful for all of her guidance!
I could not have gotten into my top choice MBA program without Stephanie’s help. After being rejected from all four of the MBA programs that I applied to in my initial application cycle, I knew that I needed to develop a different approach. I reached out to Stacy Blackman Consulting for help and I am so grateful that they paired me with Stephanie; she was the perfect match for my needs. With Stephanie’s help, I reapplied to three of the four programs that I had applied to the previous year. In my second attempt, I was accepted to all three top-20 programs (two of which are consistently top-10) with scholarships! The favorable change in my outcomes on my second attempt speaks volumes to Stephanie’s value and expertise.
Stephanie has extensive former experience in MBA admissions and she knows how to develop your personal story to make your application shine. She was fantastic at highlighting my strengths and mitigating areas that might have been perceived as weaknesses, including overcoming an average GRE score. My background is non-traditional and Stephanie was masterful at helping me to clearly articulate my path to an MBA, as well as my post-MBA goals. Additionally, Stephanie is kind, organized, and hard-working. Her supportive demeanor helps reduce some of the inherent stress of the application process.
What impressed me most was Stephanie’s responsiveness and willingness to continue to provide support long after my final applications were submitted. I ended up being waitlisted to my top-program for nine months after I submitted my application. Stephanie stuck by my side, at no additional cost, over these nine months, continuing to review numerous waitlist updates and providing strategic advice via phone and email, until I was eventually accepted. Stephanie sincerely cares that you accomplish your goals. I would recommend her to any prospective MBA candidate that wishes to make their dreams a reality.
I was referred to SBC by a friend who worked with them on his successful Wharton MBA application, and I was very satisfied with my experience – everyone has been easy to work with and very responsive. I wanted to work with Stephanie as my primary consultant because she had direct experience with the admissions process and committees at my two top choice schools, Duke Fuqua, and UW Foster. She not only knew how to advise on MBA applications generally but also what my top choices were looking for specifically. And, as an EMBA candidate, I also wanted to work with someone who had experience with EMBA programs, so I chose Bill as my client liaison because he is an expert in EMBA programs. On top of all that, my Flight Tester, Beth, provided critical guidance based on her experience as an admissions director at a top MBA program. Thanks in large part to all of their collective support, feedback, and advice, I was admitted to both Fuqua and Foster.
I highly recommend Stacy Blackman Consulting. I worked with Lisa, who is a former MBA admissions officer, and I honestly do not think I would have made it through the long and complicated admissions process without her help. Lisa is amazing – she has a lot of knowledge/insight into the admissions process, having been an admissions officer prior to joining SBC. I enjoyed working with Lisa so much, as she is very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and super quick to respond. I had a lot of questions during the process and Lisa was able to answer everything, usually responding to me that same day. With Lisa’s help, I was admitted to my top choice schools (even my reach schools!), almost all with scholarship money (including one full ride).
In addition to Lisa, there is a lot of support from the entire team at SBC. My flight tester, Caryn, who is also a former admissions officer, gave me helpful feedback on my application. Basically, everyone at SCB has some sort of background in MBA admissions, which makes the admissions process as a candidate much easier to navigate. Everyone I worked with at SBC was great, so you cannot go wrong when choosing SBC for such a stressful/important process, like MBA admissions!
I went to SBC after two friends had a very positive experience. In fairness, I was sold on their references so did not really explore other options. No matter – I am completely happy with my selection. I was very cautious at first because it was such a big investment. I found it hard to comprehend how I could get my money’s worth. But the process really helps streamline your application journey in such a smart way. I worked hard and put it a lot of hours (so did my consultant Stephanie by the way) And went through all of the steps of exploring my entire background, determining strengths and weaknesses, coming up with great examples and then applying all of the stories across my various applications. As I said Stephanie worked HARD. She truly cares and adapted herself to my schedule. She made it clear that she would not be a bottle neck and she was here to serve me, not to complicate my life by jumping through hoops for her schedule! Refreshing!! She guided me through a structured but flexible process, we went through the steps to create a backbone of an application, but also spent time where I needed it most. In my case I am a fairly decent writer but needed a lot of help structuring my ideas. I also want to point out that the flight test is a very very valuable program that is offered by SBC. The idea is that your main consultant goes through the application very carefully with you and gets to know you well. This is good, but it is different from the way your application is looked at by the schools. So the flight test actually copies the review of the schools. The reviewer doe snot know you, does not have any info on you, and just gets your package and goes through it quickly. Then you get the feedback and can apply it with your consultant. I liked that extra level of help and the extra look at my application before I submitted it. The feedback was useful. Stephanie and SBC as a whole were true professionals. Everything ran smoothly. I felt motivated and supported, and I knew I was getting the very best advice out there. In retrospect I cannot imagine doing this without their support – I know it made the difference for me as I am going to a top 5 school in the Fall.
