Hi, this is Deepak Punwai from MBA Exchange. You have your work cut out for an admit from Haas. Though you have a solid profile, am not certain you have enough “spikes” in different aspects of your profile that provides you better odds. Haas is big on tech innovation and seems to me you have more of a general management profile at the financial services firm than a fin-tech profile. Also your acads are solid but not “stand-out” and within Haas smaller class size, it may work to be a disadvantage when compared with others who have more stellar acads. Really like your EC’s especially the work in Indonesia on MF, but it may not be enough to tilt the balance in your favour. I …

Really like your EC’s especially the work in Indonesia on MF, but it may not be enough to tilt the balance in your favour. I wouldnt want to rain on your parade, so I will end by saying that if you can get a higher than median GMAT score (for Haas) and show that you have a series of innovative / tech enabled successes at work and combine that with a clear idea on why Haas is best school for you – they may offer you a “wild card” entry. Good luck
Hi Mr. All About Impact, this is Julie-Anne Heafey from mbaMission. You certainly sound like you have quite a lot going on between the 2 non profits and your full time work experience. When do you sleep? š I like what I hear about your work experience, but a lot will come down to things we don’t see here — exactly how you did what you did, the firm where you did it, the scope of your job, your track record of promotions, what your recommenders say. Still, the professional work experience part of your candidacy sounds promising. What’s more challenging is the stats side of your profile – your GPA is on the lower side, and you’ll face tough competition …

What’s more challenging is the stats side of your profile – your GPA is on the lower side, and you’ll face tough competition from similar applicants from India. The CFA will help mitigate it – that exam is super tough (I’ve taken it myself!) – but you still will need a strong standardized test performance. I don’t see a GMAT here – if you score something very high, that will help you, so do your best on that exam (or GRE). I like the addition of Tepper, and would suggest others but without a test score, it’s a bit early to predict which ones make sense. Best of luck!!
