Mr. Army Logistics

About Me:

First generation college student and decided to serve in the U.S. Army as an Active Duty Logistics Officer. I graduated top of my class during officer leadership course. I’ve managed 30 Soldier teams during my time as a Platoon Leader. I have experience leading those Soldiers on a combat deployment and working with NATO Soldiers.

Undergrad School: Mid-tier Ivy League

Undergrad Major: Political Science

GPA: 3.72

GRE: 310

Age: 31,  Ethnicity: Asian or Indian

Extracurriculars: Sunday School Teacher for 6 years, Black belt TKD instructor during college and military club.

Work History:

Title: Platoon Leader

Industry: Government / Military

Company: Army

Length of Employment: 2 yrs

Title: Logistics Officer

Industry: Government / Military

Company: Army

Length of Employment: 1 yr

Big Life Wins:

Worked full time during my undergrad to support my education. Deployed to Afghanistan early in my military career where I held three positions during deployment because of my ability to work and knack of problem solving. I was slotted for a position that was two ranks above what I was, in order to help with logistics for base closure.

Post MBA Goal:

MBB Consulting. Looking forward to transition with my problem solving tool set learned from the military to the civilian world. I hope to combine my experience from the military and manage a team of consultants. Bring my leadership experience to help clients.

Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission! It looks like in 3 years, you’ve had substantial leadership impact in your Platoon Leader role, which is great to see. It’s also great that you’ve been consistently involved in the community as a Sunday School teacher – schools love seeing that type of involvement, as it shows your engagement and leadership.

In part, your competitiveness, especially for Yale, will depend on your GMAT score – to show the admissions committee your analytical skills since you had a non-quantitative undergrad major, you’ll especially want to focus on the quant section. Other schools I would add to your list given how much they value military applicants: UVA Darden and Cornell Johnson. Hope that helps a bit! 🙂
