I love doing extracurricular activities and took a position with a chapter of AMA to continue my marketing passion. I scored 600 but I am practicing to get closer to 700 on GMAT. My undergrad GPA was on the lower end due to working 50 hours weekly while in school and being in Student Government, president of Latino Student Union and VP of Marketing Club, as well as helping manage my family’s automotive business. I struggled with time management, but have definitely learned how to perform better now that I’m older. I helped develop our marketing strategy to include e-commerce and Amazon as well as strengthening our social media presence.

Helped develop a scholarship for minority students and helped empower the community by teaching them their legal and immigration rights regardless of legal status. Great turnouts to these events. Work-wise, I was tasked to develop our customer service team after successfully implementing and scaling our e-commerce and Amazon presence. Our company was primarily a B2B business, but helped lead that push to include B2C and e-commerce with over 7 figures in revenues.
I’d love to continue mentoring and empowering my community and minorities to pursue opportunities of growth, whether that’s through education or through work advancements. I want to try to help shrink the socioeconomic imbalance minorities face by mentoring others and providing opportunities they may not have or know/understand/think are not for them.

You clearly know what you need to do: A 600 GMAT will get you an immediate rejection from Kellogg. Getting a 100-point improvement to 700 would prove to be a tough challenge but it certainly is possible. It’s just going to require a Herculean effort on your part with many hours of study and practice tests. I like the range of schools you are targeting, especially Indiana Kelley and UVA Darden, both of which are granting test waivers this coming year. Your Latino background and your very engaged and involved personality will help you greatly. Your GMAT and your GPA from a non-competitive school will really hurt at a school like Kellogg or Booth. I like your post-MBA goal, though it seems a bit vague …
