Rarely do I ever see a perfect candidate, particularly for Stanford where, as you know, the acceptance rate of under 7% is the lowest for any prestige MBA program in the world. But my friend, you are scary perfect. A 4.0 in CS from a world class university? A 760 GMAT that is 26 points higher than Stanford’s class average. A summer internship gig with MBB. Your devotion beyond self in helping thousands of disadvantged youth. And an African-American as well. If Stanford doesn’t accept you, it’s because of something we can’t see in your profile here because you are the perfect GSB applicant. And if for any crazy reason, the GSB says no to this, rush on over to Harvard’s 2+2 program. …

I agree with John that you have a pretty perfect profile, and that says a lot given the very high bar that Stanford GSB has. You have excellent GMAT and GPA stats, internships with top companies, and a track record of caring about and mentoring others. And on top of that, you have shown determination and resourcefulness by achieving those things without the resources and opportunities that so many other applicants have. I think Stanford (and Harvard too) would be eager to pull you into a future class. The deferred route should be a great option for you. Best of luck!

Wow Mr Equal Opportunity, I think you will have plenty of opportunity to get into the schools of your choice! As you know, the 2+2 programs are super competitive but they are looking for super competitive candidates like yourself. You stats will stand out but those alone won’t get you in. You will want to make sure your narrative is equally compelling- you certainly have solid experience. Be sure to translate that experience into essays and short answers that tell your story and demonstrate the impact you have made through your mentoring and study skills app. Kudos to you for looking to help others succeed!
