I graduated from Northeastern with the goal of starting a career in corporate finance through General Electric’s Financial Management Program. After completing the program, the business I was rolling off into was being sold off. I took the opportunity to switch industries from Oil & Gas to healthcare, inspired by personal events in my life.

Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission! You’ve got solid work experience (great that you took the opportunity to pivot into your area of personal interest), a high GPA in rigorous subjects, and excellent community involvement (and on top of that, an Ironman – congratulations on achieving that formidable feat!!). Given all these strengths and the fact that Deloitte may sponsor your MBA, I think you’ll be a very attractive candidate to the MBA programs you’re targeting. In your applications, be sure to explain what drew you to the healthcare industry based on your experiences and observations and the impact you aspire to make in the longer term.

Regarding GMAT – the average score for Tuck and Fuqua are about 710. If you’re able to boost your score slightly, it may boost your chances even further (but if this isn’t possible and you already have a solid quant score, that’s fine). Regarding other schools, I would also consider Michigan Ross – they have the Pinkert Scholarship for students who intend to pursue a post-MBA career in the healthcare industry.
Hope that helps a bit – best of luck!
