I presume that you applied to Duke in the EA round and were waitlisted. Based on your stats, my guess is that you didn’t show them sufficient love. If you truly want to be at Duke, connect with students and send an update in the next week or so that showcases not just how you hope to engage at Fuqua but also the impact you see yourself making and the legacy you will leave.

With respect to Darden, I think you have a solid shot. Your stats are strong and you have been actively engaged in communities you have been part of. Do your Darden research – they run a tech trek each year. What companies would you want to visit? Why? You might consider indicating that you would go to an established financial instititution and work as an intraprenueur developing FinTech solutions. Is there a particular segment of the industry that you want to address using technology? Consumer? Business to business? Specificity = credibility.
