I am a graduate of James Madison University. During my time there I started the Society of Real Estate to educate students on the opportunities in the Real Estate industry. Upon graduation, I was able to get a role with CBRE as an APM then transitioned to a role as a PM with Peterson Companies. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf.

A major win for me was starting the Society of Real Estate. There were not many opportunities to learn about the industry at James Madison. This organization was a platform to hear from industry professionals about their positions, companies, and specific sector within Real Estate.
My goal is to transition into a role where I can help businesses make high-level decisions throughout their life cycle. Ideally, I would want to work for a Sell Side M&A firm, but once I get into an MBA program I am open to learning about any and all career paths. A personal goal of mine is to open up a First Tee in an area that does not have one.

Hi Mr. Future Trusted Advisor, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. So it is tough to assess your profile without a GMAT/GRE score. While it sounds like you had a big impact at JMU in Real Estate, your GPA is lower than the average and I think you would need a strong test score to overcome that concern for admissions. I love to hear about your involvement and making your own real estate path – I’d want to know more about your leadership within your career. How have you continued to grow in your roles? Especially being lower on the experience side, you will need to show your leadership potential is ahead of your peers. For your goals, I would want to dig deeper into why …
For your goals, I would want to dig deeper into why Sell Side M&A – do you mean in real estate? Or another industry? Based on the limited info here in your profile, I am not seeing the tie to your current experience in real estate. And while I understand you want to investigate options for business school – on your application you are going to want to have a stated career path that you can explain. Think of the MBA a bit like a gap analysis, you bring a set of skills to the program, you know where you want to end up after the program – so what do you need to develop during your MBA. This ‘gap’ needs to be achievable, yet ambitious – right now a shift from real estate to business strategy feels quite large – so I’d want to dig into the connections to find that string that you can pull through your story. My suggestion is to get another year of experience, study and get a solid score on a test and be ready to apply R1 next year.
