The MBA degree is the perfect vehicle for you to gain greater responsibility in your current field and to ultimately run your own healthcare company down the line. You seem to know the weakness if your profile: A below-class-average GPA of 2.7 (which will need to be explained) and an okay GMAT of 700 that isn’t going to wow anyone. On the other hand, you did go to Harvard for your undergraduate studies. You landed at a Fortune 500 healthcare company. You’ve gotten a promotion to chief of staff. Vanderbilt is an excellent choice given your interests and goals and I would be surprised if Owen didn’t say yes to you. I would add Johns Hopkins Carey School to the mix because its focus is the business of health and the university overall is renown in the field of healthcare. While Carey is not ranked, it’s a good school for someone like you to have in the mix. My odds are for Duke.
