There are 2 parts of my life, Business and Design. As an entrepreneur, I believe business is an emotion powerful enough to change the world. As a designer, I believe thereās always something created, waiting for you to find it! The world is all shapes and gradients for me.

Hi Mr. Healthtech, I like the twin pillars of Business and Design! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission and GSB alum. You have some unique experiences – from education to healthcare and smart cities. As I have a healthTech background myself, I understand how much innovation is needed in this area. That said, it will be important to weave a narrative that links these interests in a way that helps AdCom understand how they all fit together. Like what Susan mentioned, you’d want to be specific in explaining what skills you wish to learn at b-school, why MBA, and why now. I do think your GMAT is competitive, and HBS CORe will help show b-school readiness (and offset your GPA). For the GSB especially, you’d …

I do think your GMAT is competitive, and HBS CORe will help show b-school readiness (and offset your GPA). For the GSB especially, you’d also want to peel back the onion more to share with AdCom what motivates you to be so passionate about design, education and healthcare. Was it a personal experience that opened your eyes to the needs / opportunities in these sectors? The more you can share in your essays the “Why” rather than just the “What”, the more successful you will be in your applications. Wishing you the best in your MBA journey!
Mr. Healthtech – Thanks for sharing your profile. Susan Cera here from Stratus.
How exciting that you were the youngest to get to pitch to Tim Draper this past summer! You have a lot of different things going on in your profile that make it a bit challenging to parse through – healthtech, education, design, consulting, entrepreneurship, smart cities. In your applications you will need to be very crisp in terms of what you have done, where you want to go and why an MBA (from each school) is the right next step.

I presume that you didn’t actually get a 3.0 but converted whatever your transcript actually shows to a 4.0 scale. If it is a 3.0, you are going to need to overcome the low GPA elsewhere. If, however, you were first division/first class or had a gpa out of 10 or 100 you may be able to sneak by.
While I don’t think your profile has the spike that Stanford is looking for, I suspect that your vision at the intersection of business and society would make you a good fit at Yale. If you want to be in business school next year (and not be a reapplicant) you might want to add some more target or likely schools to your list.
Wishing you all the best on your MBA application journey!
