Mr. Hopeful Green CPA

About Me:

CPA with an eagerness to contribute to forward-looking issues. I love helping others and have a lifelong love of learning. These passions drive much of how I engage the world on a daily basis, always looking for ways to solve problems, lend a listening ear, or volunteer with education-focused organizations. Avid marathoner and recycler.

Undergrad School: Baylor University

Undergrad Major: Accounting

GPA: 3.96

GMAT: 690

Age: 32,  Ethnicity: White

Other Degree/Certification: Master of Accountancy

School Name: Baylor University

Extracurriculars: Junior Achievement (Firm Volunteer Coordinator), Local Running Club Pace Leader, Local Foundation (supporting a popular running trail) Finance Committee Member

Work History:

Title: Manager

Industry: Accounting

Company: Top Firm

Length of Employment: 6 yrs, 6 mos

Title: Controller

Industry: Power / Energy

Company: Start-Up

Length of Employment: 2 yrs, 9 mos

Big Life Wins:

I am an innovative problem solver. When my current team experienced significant turnover, I implemented an outsourcing solution supported by data automation tools that reduced headcount and also reduced G&A by 15%+. JA volunteerism had been low. As the new coordinator, I began tracking volunteers and seeking their feedback, doubling participation.

Post MBA Goal:

I would like to enter management consulting focusing on sustainability solutions, which I believe are among the most important issues our generation will have to solve. Eventually, I’d like to be either a chief sustainability officer at a global company or an entrepreneur within the circular economy

Target School: Kellogg

If you were admitted, you would be 33 years of age at matriculation. That’s five years older than average at the Kellogg School. Plus, you are applying with a GMAT score of 690, 40 points below the school’s class average. As Sandy often says, schools will blink once at something that doesn’t quite line up with their admission decisions. But they rarely, if ever, blink twice. And you are, in fact, asking the school to blink twice at a time when applications are on the rise and this year could very well be the most competitive ever in elite MBa admissions So if you really want to attend Kellogg, I would urge you to retake the GMAT and aim to hit the average score for …
