My family and I fled our country in the middle east when I was 16 and moved to the US as refugees. A first-gen with no guidance, language, or familiarity with the American system I almost dropped out of CC. It took me six years of hard work to Finally catch up and transfer to a lower-tier UC while working full time and taking care of my family.
