Successfully managed the lack of inclusion I experienced in some countries/schools as a child/teenager and turned it to fuel my personality and success.
My biggest dream is to have a positive impact on the life of people in Africa by contributing to the economic development of the continent. In the short/medium term, I would like to join a top consulting firm (MBB) in one of its Africa offices. I will then use my learning from this consulting experience to start my own business on the continent

Hi Mr. Industrial Goods To MBB, This is Debbie Choy, Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I am impressed by your background – especially your international experiences, adaptability, drive, and commitment to the African continent! I think your stories will resonate with schools like HBS and GSB. The GMAT and GPA could be a concern but your industry and academic specialties are niche and hard. Your community leadership during college is strong. As you put together your app, do explain why you’re looking to pivot into the business side, especially consulting. And what type of business do you want to start long-term to make an impact? I think if you can tie these stories together compellingly in your narrative, you’d have a solid shot at HBS. Wishing you …

Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. You have a very impressive profile and certainly a big and bold dream! All the top schools will love to see your background and your ambitious goal to help communities in Africa have a better quality of life. The fact that you’re from West Africa is also a huge plus since it’s not a common part of Africa for applicants (nor is Africa for that matter). Your GMAT is on the softer side and the GPA is as well but you had a hard major at a top school plus your work experience in consulting is very strong. If you want to enter MBB, you might consider re-taking the GMAT since they’ll be looking for a higher score. …

If this is probably your top score, I recommend showing ad-coms that you’re prepared for the rigor of the curriculum by perhaps taking MBA Math and mentioning in an optional essay. Your post-MBA goal makes sense and would be great preparation for your LT goal. I think you will be competitive at HBS even though I only gave a 20% chance of admission, but that’s well over the average! I wish you lots of luck!
re-take your GMAT, for your MBA application and future consulting recruitment!
