Hey there, Mr. Merchant of Debt, this is Julie-Anne Heafey from mbaMission. You are clearly a bright star on the academic front and racked up a lot of accomplishments very early on. This is impressive, but what I didn’t hear about all that much was your impact and accomplishments at work, especially in your current role. So I’d be looking for a few things in your application — 1) professional impact and a strong POV on your industry (along with stellar recs), 2) clear reasoning for why an MBA makes sense and is not just another trophy on your resume and 3) a personal story that illuminates who you are. Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. I love so much of what I see in your profile and think you will be competitive at top schools. I just gave you a 25% at HBS because the average is about 10% and I see you having a better-than-average chance there. Your GMAT is fantastic and your GPA is solid at a top school. You also have great work experience, and your work experience is right in the sweet spot as far as years. When I see another master’s degree on a resume I also want to bring up how important it is for you to explain why you need the MBA to reach your goals. Ad-coms want to avoid degree collectors so you really need to show them what ONLY the MBA degree will offer you in order to reach your goals. I also really like seeing the mentoring outside of work. If that’s a big part of your life, be sure to tie it into your story because it shows another side of you besides banking and finance. I wish you lots of luck!
