Candidate:

Mr. Mexican Central Banker

About Me:

I am an economist with experience in investment banking and currently working at Mexico’s central bank, the Bank of Mexico. I excelled during my undergrad studies and have relevant experience in quant-heavy positions. I’m applying for MBA programs in the USA and Europe as I am looking to broaden my employment opportunities and to work abroad for a while.

The English language requirement is no issue, as I have a 112 score on the TOEFL IBT. I’d like to know if my admission chances vary considerably when applying to top European business schools.

Details:

Undergrad School: Tecnologico de Monterrey - Mexico

Undergrad Major: Economics

GPA: 95.8/100 (1st in class)

GMAT: 730

Other Degree/Certification: BA in Economics & Finance

Extracurriculars: Founder of my university's Consulting Club. Passionate about food and drink, I constantly make pastries, preserves, pickles, extracts, bitters, and liqueurs. Volunteer for a nonprofit homebuilding organization (6 months).

Work History:

Length of Employment: 3 yrs, 4 mos

Title: Investment Banking Analyst

Industry: Banking & Finance

Company: Boutique Firm

Length of Employment: 1 yr, 2 mos

Big Life Wins:

– I earned a 90% scholarship for my undergrad studies, after a competitive process. Furthermore, I managed to maintain said scholarship throughout my studies and got the highest grades in my class.
– I managed to increase my GMAT score by 50 points with little time for preparation following very tough months at work due to some colleagues’ departure.

Post MBA Goal:

I wish to expand my employment opportunities, both in terms of industry and geography. Ideally, I want to work abroad in a high-impact industry addressing environmental, social, or governance issues, ideally leveraging my knowledge and experience in finance. I want to live in Europe or the USA for some years post-graduation.
