I’m a UK based veterinarian and entrepreneur, graduating as a DVM equivalent in 2014. I am very proud to be a self-taught full-stack developer. Within 2 years of graduating, I was part of the executive team of a veterinary business. I’ve had startup successes – I took one web tech company from startup to a profitable, 6-person team in 6 months. I simultaneously took another from a 1-city startup to a presence in 6 cities in 6 months.
Gaining an MBA will be a springboard for me to continue my path as a leader in innovation. Connections and business acumen gained will catalyze my work turning innovative projects with great potential into viable businesses. I will lead teams to analyze potential ideas to then develop, launch, and market these as efficient, consolidated companies.

Hi Mr. Multi-Startups, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. It is not every day I see a profile of someone with a veterinary medical background applying to MBA programs. And I think that is a great thing for you as it makes you a unique candidate! I would love to hear more about your jump from vet med to tech – I am sure it is compelling. And your success as an entrepreneur will be an interesting set of experiences to bring to an MBA program as well. I often think entrepreneurs (or hopefuls) that have some start up experience both bring more to the table as well as can gain so much more from your learnings during the start up. While it sounds like your ventures were successful, I think startup failures are super valuable too – believing we learn our most from our toughest struggles. Your stats are strong and will put you in a competitive place at GSB (the most competitive program out there). I would encourage you do to some more introspection on your post-MBA goals, and this can be tough as an entrepreneur who just wants to innovate. But all MBA programs are going to want you to have an idea of what type of entrepreneurial ventures you want to start in the future. And GSB in particular, will want to know how these ventures will change the world. What big problem do you want to solve? While you clearly have had success, without a clear vision as to where you want to go – it is difficult for admissions teams to assess if their program can help you get there. Do you want to continue to be on the start up side of new ventures – almost serial entrepreneur, jumping to the next as one gets off its feet? Or start a company and grow with the company? I love working with clients through this introspection process as it is something that can also help you make sure you get the most out of your 2 years – which go by faster than you can imagine! With a compelling story, I think you have solid chances at Stanford (keeping in mind their average acceptance rate is 5%). Best of luck – and reach out if I can answer any other questions. Cheers!
