Hi, it’s Nisha from mbaMission. First of all, thank you for your service! It sounds like you’ve had some good impact as a finance officer AND won the hearts of your fiancee and your peers – great to see! Given your current role and your undergrad background in finance, your goal of transitioning to finance in the civilian sector are logical. Since PE firms typically seek prior investment banking or PE experience, I think investment banking is a suitable post-MBA goal – then, in the longer term, you could transition to PE (or alternatively, go down the path of asset management).

A couple of other programs I’d look into that are very friendly towards military applicants and strong in finance are Cornell Johnson and UVA Darden. Your choice of program, however, will depend in part on which geography you desire to end up in post-MBA and which companies you are targeting. I hope that helps a bit – best of luck and please reach out if you’d like to discuss in more detail via a free consultation.
